Louisville Trinity 61, Louisville PRP 7
#3
With broken ribs suffered just two weeks ago, Trinity High School wide receiver James Quick found his way back to the field and capped a record-setting career.

Quick finished with three catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns as the Shamrocks routed Pleasure Ridge Park 61-7 in Saturday's Class 6-A championship game.

Quick was injured in the regional final against St. Xavier two weeks ago and missed last week's semifinal win over Scott County. Coach Bob Beatty said Thursday that he didn't expect Quick to play against PRP, but doctors cleared the receiver to return Friday.

"He makes a big difference," Beatty said. "He gets our ballclub fired up, and he was pretty wound up before the game knowing he was going to get to play. I don't think he's 100 percent, but he has some time to heal now."

Quick entered the game for the first time on Trinity's third offensive series. He didn't have a reception in the first half but hauled in a pair of 35-yard touchdown passes during a 12-second span in the third quarter as the Shamrocks padded their lead.

"The first play I was playing it a little nervous," said Quick, who wore padding. "I didn't know how I was going to feel. I leaned in and got knocked down. After my first hit I was ready to play."

Quick, named the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year last week, finished his season with 85 catches for 1,416 yards and 16 TDs. He ranks first in state history with 280 catches and third in yards (4,437) and touchdowns (57).
