Caldwell County's first championship came in 1963 in the old AA with a win over Highlands. Highlands was coached at that time by Owen Hauck, who later coached at Boone County, and is in the top 15 winniest coaches in KHSAA history. Their second, also in AA in 1998, came against Danville, coached by Sam Harp, fifth winniest coach in KHSAA history.
