Mining layoffs
#5
Hoot Gibson Wrote:Stories of layoffs in the mining industry are beginning to flood: 145 by Consol in WV over permitting issues, TECO, 102 at Murray Energy in Utah and another 54 in Galatia, Illinois. RIUG, if the TECO layoffs affected you, I am very sorry to hear of your misfortune.

The nation cannot operate without coal, so the industry will continue to limp along as it absorbs additional damage from our president. No doubt, Obama apologists will rush to tell us about the relative few coal miners who are periodically called back to work. The coal industry and the nation will not soon recover from the impact of electing a socialist president to two consecutive terms.

Too many people treated this election like a sporting event and they mistakenly believe that the results will not impact their daily lives. They could not be more wrong. Elections have consequences and no American will escape the consequences of this one. Some will just never associate their votes with what is about to happen to this nation. History punishes those who ignore but the rest of us will suffer from collateral damage.

The TECO layoffs did not effect me personally, but it did some friends and family members. Its coming in a huge way. I can only hope that these families are able to find employment elsewhere. My job fate will be decided for good in January. We'll wait it out and see how it goes.
One thing is for sure, over the next few months, i expect you will see many threads announcing layoffs of miners.
