The following is reported this morning from http://www.Kentucky.com. Dakari played for Lexington Sayreâs varsity in 7th & 8th grade, but Iâll always remember him as the most dominating 6th grader ever. He was originally going to play for Scott County in 9th grade, then suddenly went instead to St. Patrickâs, which is now closed. Here's the report:
Report: Dakari Johnson joins the class of 2013

Five-star center Dakari Johnson has joined the class of 2013, according to a report by Future 150.
Johnson, who played for Sayre High School in Lexington as an eighth-grader, was rated by ESPN as the No. 3 overall junior in the country. Rivals and Scout rated him as the No. 5 junior in the country.
He will likely be the top-rated center in the class of 2013 once those rankings are updated.
The 6-foot-10, 250-pounder is a native of New York City but is currently playing at Montverde Academy in Florida. Montverde is coached by Kevin Boyle, who also coached Johnson and former UK star Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at St. Patrick High in New Jersey.
Montverdeâs roster also includes Florida commitment Kasey Hill and junior shooting guard DâAngelo Russell, a Louisville native and UK target. The school is expected to have one of the top teams in the country this season.
Johnson had to sit out last season after transferring from St. Patrick. He played over the summer with the Each 1 Teach 1 AAU squad and led the Nike EYBL with 10.7 rebounds per game before missing the Peach Jam finals with an injury.
Johnson has made recent visits to Florida and Syracuse, and Georgetown, Ohio State, Kansas and North Carolina are among several others recruiting him.
He does not have a scholarship offer from Kentucky, but the Cats are currently without a center for their epic 2013 class. UK also isnât actively recruiting any uncommitted centers from that class.
