Pikeville's main roads are six lanes yet have a speed limit of 55 mph. I can drive 85 safely on those roads with no problems. I am careful with speeding.

The reason for this tribe is that there are so many turnoffs and sudden stops that people could be making, not to mention all of the stop lights that are installed there. And another reason that it isn't 85 is that the higest the speed limit can be in the state is 65. But not on that section, way too dangerous. Only wide open roads such as interstates or the 4-lane section of the Mtn parkway should be higher than 55. But I'm not saying that I drive 55 hh:
