I had heard the $ amount in contributions coming into the Correll Bowl has dwindled over the last several years making the payout smaller and smaller for the county schools. I do know without the county schools, the Correll Bowl would die all together. I think it was a smart move fiscally by somerset to do this. Somerset have scheduled 2 5A schools anyway (one county school and Perry Central this year) so why not make it a $ winfall for them too. As far as these games being meaningless, in the playoff picture yes it is meaningless, but that does that mean that all of your non-district games are meaningless? You need tough games to get ready for the district, And both PC and Southwestern will give them that, as well Somerset for PC and Southwestern.
