Funny, but true, story: I called Dish today to cancel my service. I had chatted online with a Dish CSM but they told me I had to do a discontinue/cancellation over the phone. That is why I called today. Online they told me that they would not budge with the price of my current bill, and that the only way to lower the payment was to discontinue service.

The lady that I happened to be speaking to was the manager for the billing department. She normally would not have been taking calls but it was a strange circumstance that she didn't go into the details of. The only reason I knew is because she stated that reason when she apologized for the wait time.

When she asked why I wanted to cancel I was honest and told her that the service was great and that I had chatted online with a rep and he stated that there was nothing they could do. I even repeated to her that I told the man I would be willing to establish a new contract to get my payment lowered because I am that happy with Dish Network.

She told me that she would cut my bill by $10 per month for 12 months....WITH NO CONTRACT. To this day, I still do not have a contract. If I decide I want to cut ties, I can be done.
