Henderson County, which won a state baseball championship in 2000, will go for another title Saturday night.
The Colonels earned that chance by beating Meade County 10-6 in the semifinals of the Kentucky National Insurance/KHSAA State Tournament at Whitaker Bank Ballpark on Friday night.
Henderson County (29-13-1) will play Woodford County (33-6) in Saturday's 7 p.m. championship game.
Henderson County trailed Meade County 1-0 in the middle of the fourth before erupting for six runs in the bottom of the inning, and three more in the fifth.
Justin Cessna's three-run triple highlighted the six-run uprising, which Meade County abetted by issuing three walks, making three errors and throwing a wild pitch.
Sam Higgs, the winning pitcher in the Colonels' first two games this week, contributed a lead-off double and a run to the rally.
Avery Pitt started on the mound for Henderson County. He worked three innings and gave up a run in the third. Meade County's Brady Smith singled, went to second on a wild pitch, to third on an error and scored on a fielder's choice.
Colton Jones came on in relief in the fourth and went two innings. But when Meade County rallied for six runs off Daniel Steiner in the sixth, Jones returned to the mound to close the door.
Higgs, who figures to start Friday's title game, closed out the seventh for the Colonels
