East 6, Holy Cross 4: Trevor Gonzalez struck out Holy Cross’ Nelson Bodenbender with the bases loaded to end the No. 18-ranked Chargers’ victory at Eastern High School

Holy Cross (9-20) scored twice in the top of the seventh to pull within 6-4 but couldn’t get closer as Bullitt East posted its school-record 33rd win against six losses.“This group just keeps finding a way to win,” Bullitt East coach Jeff Bowles said. “I’ve stopped pulling my hair out because of them. I just shave my head once a week.”
Bullitt East’s Nos. 8-9 hitters were a combined 5 for 6 as Josh Stearns had two bunt singles and Colten Maupin went 3 for 3. Hunter Wood added two hits, including a solo homer in the first inning.
Maupin (8-1) also was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs in four innings.
