Butler 54 - Glasgow 49 (KHSAA State Tournament)
#4
Glasgow made a late push, but fell short - dropping a 54-49 decision to Louisville Butler in the opening round of the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16.
Making the first Sweet 16 appearance in school history, Glasgow (28-5) forced 33 turnovers but couldn't overcome 23 miscues.
The Lady Scotties jumped out to a 15-4 lead late in the first quarter before Butler (24-9) started to chip away. The Bearettes took their first lead when Miah Casey's putback made the score 17-16 midway through the second quarter and led 23-22 at halftime.
Glasgow never led in the second half. Butler's lead grew to 37-29 on two free throws from Danielle Lawrence late in the third period. The Lady Scotties whittled the deficit down to one point on two occasions late in the fourth before the Bearettes sealed the win at the free throw line in final seconds.
Haley Perkins led Glasgow with 17 points and 11 rebounds in the final game of her prep career. Shalika Smith added 15 points and 11 boards, while Kelsey Greer finished with 10 points.
Cora Moore led Butler with 12 points.
