Senior center Jay Johnson scored 26 points to lead the Woodford County High School boys’ basketball team to a 60-55 upset of Madison Central on Saturday in the semifinals of the 11th Region Tournament at Eastern Kentucky University.

The Yellowjackets (22-12) ended a nine-game winning streak by the Indians (31-2), who are No. 7 in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings.

Madison Central was the only Kentucky team to beat top-ranked Trinity this season (78-77 on Jan. 21). The Indians’ only other loss was at Henry Clay (64-49 on Jan. 31).

Woodford County will meet No. 3 Scott County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the final.
