Highlands Sheehan to UK as a PWO
#11
I would like to make a few points but first let me clarify myself. I am a long time supporter of the birds (I've been going to their games since before I could talk) and will continue to be for the rest of my life. Having recently had the privilege to develope through the Highland's program, I got to personally know Ozzie pretty well even though I am a few years infront of him and can honestly say he is a great kid. Him going to UK reminds me of a former Bluebird named Clem Fennell, who walked on at UK and eventually earned himself a scholarship through hardwork and dedication. I expect nothing less from Ozzie. However, I do want to emphasize a few points.
First in regards to his ability to blow past DB's. I know I am stating the blatant obvious when i say this, but folks were talking about SEC DB's. Your not gonna find to many "top-of-the-line" recievers who are going to blow by a SEC DB. I'm not claiming that thats what anyone is trying to say, but throwing the fact the he blew past highschool DB's seems a little irrelevent.I'm not to sure but I'm having an extremely hard time buying the whole 4.45 40 time claim also. After watching the combine today and seeing some of those guys run it just seems hard to believe that Ozzie is in that same ballpark. I'll admit that he had great speed for Kentucky competition and especially NKY competition, but I am hesitant to believe that he runs a true 4.45 40.
Secondly I would like to address his size. I know everyone is going to say well look at the Wes Welker type players and are going to try to compare Ozzie to those types. However, how many Wes Welkers are out there. 1. If Ozzie wants to be able to play in the SEC he is gonna have to pack on some serious weight just to be able to take the repeated hits.
Do I think he can do it? Of course I do. Do I think he wants it? Not a doubt in my mind. The cards are falling into place and his dreams are being realized. The only thing that is left for him to do is to just go into camp with the mindset that he deserved a scholarship and hes gonna show the coaches that. Knowing Ozzie I am sure he will go in with a chip on his shoulder and make all us former bluebirds proud. BBN
