LEXINGTON, KY. — Campbell County and defending champion Union County share the lead with 71.5 points after one day of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association wrestling championships at Alltech Arena in the Kentucky Horse Park.

Trinity is third with 63.5 points and St. Xavier fifth with 56. Other Louisville-area schools in the top 10 are Oldham County, eighth with 52.5 points, and Southern, ninth with 50.5. North Oldham is 11th with 40.5.

All of the top-ranked wrestlers advanced to the quarterfinals, including Trinity’s John Fahy (138) and Bobby Bryant (195) and DeSales heavyweight Trevor Ford.

Union County moved seven wrestlers to the quarterfinals, including top-rated Trae Blackwell (113), Brock Ervin (126) and Jayce Carr (132). Campbell County advanced six, including brothers Stephen (152) and Austin Myers (220).

LaRue County, No. 1 in the KentuckyWrestling.com rankings, is seventh with 53 points but got eight wrestlers to the quarterfinals, including top-rated Shawn Hull (160), Bernard Ray (182) and Drew Newberry (220).

Trinity advanced six to the quarterfinals, St. Xavier seven, Oldham County five, Southern three and North Oldham four.

Wrestling will start today at 9:30 a.m. with consolation finals around 4 p.m. and the finals to start about 6:30.
