Quote:Well, that was presumptuous.
Country music star Randy Travis sounds incredulous when a police officer placing him under arrest on suspicion of public intoxication asks him for identification in a newly released dashboard camera video.
In the video, originally obtained by KCENTV.com, Travis, 52, is seen sitting in a black, late-'90s Pontiac sports car when Officer Carl Parker approaches the vehicle, rapping on the window.
"Oh, I was asleep," the bleary-eyed singer tells Parker.
"Asleep? Do you have any ID on you?" the officer responds.
The famous singer then spends several minutes explaining that though he is indeed a bit intoxicated, "I am not driving, as you can see."
Travis was parked in a church parking lot on that early morning of Feb. 6 when officers were called to investigate the suspicious vehicle. The "Three Wooden Crosses" singer had an open bottle of wine in his car and smelled "like alcohol," police said.
The star also explains to Parker that he had been in an argument with his future wife.

Later in the video, Parker is seen returning to his police vehicle and conferring with dispatch about Travis' identity. The dispatcher seems lost for words when Parker states the perpetrator's name.
"I don't know what to say," the dispatcher is heard saying.
Parker returns to Travis and informs him that he will be going to jail temporarily to be booked on charges of "public intoxication."
"Really? Are you kiddin' me?" Travis is heard slurring in his distinctive drawl.
"Maybe once we get to the jail, we can figure out who ... get some more information on you, who you are," Parker offers.
"Are you kiddin' me?" Travis repeats.
The performer was booked at the Denton County Jail in nearby Denton, Tex., at 1:30 a.m. and released several hours later.
He issued an apology the next day, blaming his excitement over the Super Bowl for his drunkenness.
"I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl," he said in a statement. "I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions."
