Eagles win Region-8 wrestling tournament
The Johnson Central Eagle wrestling team won the Region-8 wrestling championship Saturday at the Johnson Central Field House.
Ten different Eagle grapplers qualified for the title matches and seven won to give the Eagles a 30-point victory over Wayne County.
Seventh-grader Geordon Blanton got things started with a victory over Wayne County Cecil Neville, who came into the tournament with a 43-1 record, in the 108-weight class. Blanton defeated the defending regional champ Zach Bray, of Whitley County, in the semi finals.
