You're not thinking Hoot. We are assuming(pretending) that the green party would even be strong enough to get a candidate elected. If they were that strong, they could handle either party in Washington. The thread is all based on a strong enough green party.

A third party candidate whose party did not hold a majority of seats in either the Senate or the House would be worse than powerless. In fact, even if a third party gained control over one of the houses of Congress, it is likely that the Republicans and Democrats would work together long enough to make sure that their majority was short lived. That is simply the political reality in this country and it will remain reality until a catastrophe befalls this nation. Even then, it will not be easy for any party to reach parity with either the Democratic and Republican parties.
