Update at the half: Harlan 21 Bishop Brossart 11
#15
Wideleft01 Wrote:In my summation of the Brossart Harlan game, I never mentioned Highlands. Backwoods did. Why can't you accept the fact that Harlan's girls basketball team got waxed, and the beatdown had nothing to do with officiating? In this particular game, Harlan flat out wasn't any good in the second half on this day. I feel that losing team's fans from that part of the state frequently blame officiating for their teams ousters. I've sat there and listened to it in the past. I have nothing against Harlan or the good people of your teams school. I just don't like officials bearing the blame for the ineptitude of the team. I'm not even an official, but feel the need to defend them.

As for Highlands, Highlands has the most or 2nd most 9th Region basketball titles. Holmes may or may not be first. Highlands has reached the finals of the Sweet 16 twice in boys and also in girls basketball. Most recently was 1997. From 1997 to 2001 Highlands was in the Sweet 16 four out of five years.

Highlands greatest athlete is debatable. There have been countless great athletes in all sports. Highlands has put many players in the NFL. There's a couple Highlands players with Super Bowl Rings. There's also the leading scorer in the history of basketball in Ky. It happens to be a female.

Wah Wah was indeed a great athlete from Harlan, and I'm glad he chose Kentucky. I don't have to knock Harlan to feel good about my school.

Please remember that Brossart crushing Harlan had nothing to do with Highlands. I've also never coached any of the players attending Brossart, so I can't take credit for them embarrassing your team either.

lion #1 said he was quitting this site but I hope he comes back,he's a good guy,I know him well. I think he said it because you,in a derogatory manner, asked "has Harlan ever won anything in any sport?" and he was just letting you know they had and kind of compared them to Highlands who hasn't achieved one yet. Remember, lefty, your opinion is your opinion and mine is that although Brossart played hard the officials put the crush on Harlan. Brossart just reaped the rewards. It was the radio announcers that said that Harlan was getting called for touch fouls and Brossart was getting away with absolute assault on our guards who were trying to get the ball down court. Where were those calls in the first half?
