EKY vs. WKY
#7
Stardust Wrote:No, they won't be as strong, but that does not mean they will be down. This is a team that got a ton of experience for their under-classmen.

I expect Devon Hayes to be one of, if not the best QB in the state next season. He's 6-2 and probably a more pure passer than Hollis. Hollis gave you the running element, where Hayes will be your typical drop back QB, but he is very good and will be a Junior with playing time.

Running the ball, obviously Hollis was the primary weapon with the most rushing yards and they lose the #2 guy Neveras. But BG has the best name in football coming back and he lead the team in yards per carry, 11 ypc, Blue Tisdale. He will be a Junior next season as well. Blake Pillow, another incoming Junior was second on the team with 9 yards per carry. So, they have two backs that with over 800 yards between them and they will have no issue stepping in and picking up the slack on the ground.

Nacarus Fant was the teams leading receiver with over 1,000 yards, and he was only a sophomore.

Its the defensive side of the ball that they have to plug in numbers. They lose 3 of their top 4 tacklers, but after that, they bring a lot of talent back.

On the line, as I said before, they had a lot of kids get playing time during the season. Bowling Green only had one game this season that required their starters to stay in the game the whole time, and that was St. X. In the rest of their 14 games, The Purples completely dominated every game and reserves were playing before the first half was over in every game except Greenwood. But even in that game, the Reserves were in before the 3rd quarter was over.

Again, BG has a lot of holes to fill, but they were afforded an entire undefeated season this year to put next years squad on the field as much, and in some cases more, than this years starters.

Good post. I can agree with all of it. BG's offense was powerful this past season, but their strength,I feel, was their defense. They held some good offenses down to nearly nothing. If they have anything near the defense they had last season they will repeat no problem.
