Can you dig it has it right for back in the day but today is different. This punishment isnt going to hurt the kid and if he does have issues they will be found.
I believe a lot of kids playing football, and most sports, do some stupid things and get away with it. We have all heard the punch in the balls in a pile up, choking, deliberate cutting at the knees, a punch or hand up under the face mask. These could cause more serious injurys than a thumb tac, other than spreading an infection. Who is talking to the kids that do this? Or is it just football.
The punishment may be a bit tough for a stupid act, unless he has issues in his past.
