KENTUCKY COUNTRY DAY
Coach: Doug Young (ninth year).
Last season: 17-12, lost to Jeffersontown 67-24 in 28th District semifinal.
Player to watch: Shelbi Hendricks, a 5-9 senior forward, earned second-team All-Seventh Region honors last season after averaging 18 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals. She has more than 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career.
Other top players: F Olivia Alford (5-8, Jr., 4.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg); G Kennedi Hayes (3.8 ppg, 2.0 apg); F Caroline Green (5-7, Jr., 2.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg); G Anna Zaponne (5-5, Jr.).
Outlook: Young hopes this squad can improve on last seasonâs victory total and reach the All âAâ Classic. Hendricks is nearing the schoolâs all-time scoring record and is a three-sport star, also excelling in swimming and softball. Alford offers another scoring option in the post, and Hayes will take over at point guard. Zaponne transferred from Texas.
