Class 6A, Region 4 Champonship: Boone County (8-4) at Lexington Lafayette (9-3)
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today at Ishmael Stadium, Lexington.
WHAT TO EXPECT: William Johnson has carried the load for Lafayette in its first two playoff wins, rushing for 480 yards on 62 carries in the two games combined (262 in a 20-7 win over Campbell County last week and 218 in a 28-14 win over Dixie in the first playoff game). Boone County is allowing just 127 yards per game rushing. The Rebels, who are the No. 4 seed from their district, won their first playoff game over No. 1-seed Madison Central, 28-21, on a last-minute touchdown and then played outstanding defense last week in a 14-7 win over No. 2-seed Ryle. Senior Mikel Reynolds rushed for 188 yards on 28 carries in the two games combined after rushing for just 123 yards on 30 carries in the regular season. He has added another dimension to go along with Cody Rodriguez, who had 136 yards on 28 carries against Ryle, and Bryson Thompson.
BOTTOM LINE: If Boone County can limit Johnson and force Lafayette's shaky passing game to have to produce it should pull off its third straight win over a higher-seeded team.
