Al Baker was a State Champ in the 100 meters. I think he held one of the class records for a long time. I remember his career at UK was not as good as it was expected to be. I can't remeber if it was injury or if he just didn't fit into UK's system at the time. I do remember that he was recruited hard by many big time program. I remember reading a write-up about him and the Press had dubbed him UK's Herchel Walker.

I was actually standing on the fence in '85 when he won the 100......looked like a freight train rolling down the track. He won the 100 & 200 and placed 2nd in the shot putt......not your typical combination.
