New here, so hope you will read. And I realize there
was already a thread about this, but last night reinforced it.

KHSAA playoffs NEED CONTRACTION in the worst way.

First round saw 52 gmaes with a 30+ point margin.
35 teams scored 50+
16 teams scord 60+
4 scored 70+

St. X, which lost to Trinity by 35, beat Nelson Co. 72-0.

Last night in round 2, 23 more games were decided by 30+.
15 more teams scored 50+
4 more teams scored 60+

Now I will admit that these second round margins are a little
more atypical, but not a lot. And that doesn't change the
par for the course amount of 1st rd slaughters. It was bad enough
under the 4 class system when 4 teams per district made
the post season. With 6 classes, a shocking number of
these total mismatches are all but guaranteed.

Commissioner Tackett has shown zero interest in contraction
of either the classes, or the playoff entries per district. But
both should, and fewer entries must, come about if we don't
want our playoffs to continue to be a joke until the 3rd round.
And in these tough economic times, what logic is there in having
these programs incur the added costs of travel, etc. for games that
so many have no chance to win? And it gives no benefit to the
winners either, who must guard against injury in meaningless games,
and who can't get decent competition to help prepare them
for games down the line.

Just stay home for a couple of weekends. Don't read the paper and pretend that only the the top two in the region make the playoffs.
