Very bad play calls in the red zone the entire game.This was a game that Hazard should have won,they were the better team.

This was the worst I've seen Hazard look since 2006.... Hazard players and coaches didn't show up really tonight... Somerset scored first TD on a blocked FG...

This was just very very very UGLY.... Somerset didn't look too good also, Hazard had 3 INT's on Somerset..

But the stories of this game was FLAG'S and REDZONE.....

Hazard had 4 turnovers in the redzone and a blocked FG... I'm not saying Hazard got cheated because they didn't but the refs did make a few bad calls and Hazard players and coaches then got unsportsman called..... I believe 4 times (2 players, 2 coaches)...

Hazard just looked like $hit... I just guess it was a good day to play Hazard.... IMO: Hazard was better.... Perry and Breathitt will both beat Somerset

This was one of those games if you like defense it was a perfect game to be at.
First off congrads to Somerset on a tough and hard fought win.

Im going to give you my perspective of this game right here as i saw it.. This is going to be full of these what ifs. Some I might as well start it. From start to end if Hazard scores on every series they drove down into the red zone then the bulldogs would of won handily. But thats not the case. Hazard shot themselves in the foot many times and let there attitudes loses this game for them. Hazard looked extremely good the first half and then pretty much died afterwards. Somerset the first half only had one big play for 50 yards on a screen to wilson but later turned it over on a interception. Second half Hazard attitude and being a little undisplined got them in major trouble. And Hazard pretty much completely died out. Somerset in the 2nd half made the adjustsment in the defense to keep that deep ball contained. They also picked apart the mental mistake hazard made with the young safety letting a reciever get behind him setting up somersets only offensive touchdown. Then on the ensuing kickoff kicked an onside kick and recovered it and that pretty much broke the camels back. Both of these teams will be fine as the season progress but this games shows you when two really good teams get together its usually a low scoring event if the defenses step up.

There is one thing Hazard must do when in the red zone is put it in there playmakers hands if it calls for running the wild bulldog or whatever you call it or making a quick fade route for your recievers. The QB definately has a good arm but in the red zone its like he just couldnt do anything with those short passes.

One thing for Somerset is there pass coverage must get better against a good passing attack earlier before the playoffs or they will find themselves down a couple of scores. If Hazard converted on there plays then you would of had an L instead of W.

Hopefully I havent offended anyone but some might take this to hear when i say this Hazard was the better team even though they lost this game but the better team doesnt always win. Somerset showed that Displine and hard work will carry you as they grinded out a well deserved win.

I love how a team that got shut out on it's home field is still claiming to be the better team. You keep saying that if Hazard scores every time that they got in the red zone then they would have won easily. It is easy for a fan to say that about their team and disregard what the other team did. Don't forget Somerset had the ball in the red zone 3 times themselves and came away with no points--a missed field goal, a botched hold on another field goal and an interception. If the Briar Jumpers convert those into touchdowns then they win 35-0, would Hazard have been claiming to be the better team then? Both teams made mistakes in the red zone but several of those mistakes were caused by the defenses. I will agree that Hazard has more depth of quality at the skill positions. I don't think they have anyone as good at receiver as Storm Wilson but they are better at the other receiver spots. I don't think they have anyone at running back better than Alex Lange but they have 2-3 kids that are very close and maybe just as good. However, Somerset won the game up front--both on offense and defense. That is one big reason that Somerset was able to keep Hazard out of the end zone the whole game. Hazard was able to make some nice plays between the 20's, particularly on the long ball. When they got inside the 20 however they simply could not run the ball on the Briar Jumpers and Somerset was able to get enough pressure on the quarterback to force some bad throws--including the interception. In the second half the Briar Jumpers were able to run the ball much better on the Bulldogs. The running game was what enabled Storm to get single coverage on his touchdown. Somerset had been gouging Hazard on the ground on that drive and eventually they pulled enough people in the box so that Lange could get the ball to Wilson over the top. Also, at least a couple of the fumbles and dropped passes were caused by big hits by the Briar Jumpers--it wasn't like they were just laying it on the ground. Having discipline is part of being a good team as well--Hazard certainly was lacking there last night. It takes more than just having the better athletes to have the better team. I will give you that Hazard was overall more athletic at the skill positions last night. However, they were not more physical, more disciplined, better conditioned or better coached--it takes all of the above to be the better team. The scoreboard doesn't lie.
