judgementday Wrote:I volunteered to line judge at almost every home game last year (even though I think it should be officials and not just parents) and the officials made all the calls and did not go by anything that I did. So I had that mindset in volunteering this year and got yelled at twice for questionable calls because the official was waiting on me to make the call which I had made but I am guessing he didn't see it or whatever. This was the same official from last year so I am not sure if they were told something or what the deal is this year.Don't know where you linejudged, but I've never had one of my calls overturned by the official. The key is to be fair and consistent, and ask questions before the match starts. All the officials have been very complimentary and willing to take the time to explain things to me before the matches. I've been doing it for four years now, really enjoy it. Had a situation once where I made a call, other team didn't agree and the players were letting me have it from the bench, and he told the coach afterwards he had no doubt it was what I called it because I've always taken the time to make sure I got it right. Key is confidence in your calls, make the call and don't wait for them to ask you, it makes you look unsure of yourself.
