^ I'm sure these lists were created with HOF being in the weighting. Pudge is still probably as high as he would get. He was certainly a better defensive catcher than Piazzi, but the guys above him were the center-piece of their teams. Pudge was always a significant part, but never the #1 guy on the team. It could be argued that Yogi wasn't, but this was during an era where the Yankees had 5-6 #1 guys. Though guys like Rose, Perez and Morgan were #1 guys, I don't think anyone would argue that Bench was 1A!
