Jody Demling's Class of 2012 Rankings
#1
It’s one of the toughest years to pick a top guy.

I went back and forth for several months what player was the best statewide in the Class of 2012 and ended up back on the player I had previously ranked there.

Scott County’s Tamron Manning has proved it time and again against some of the best competition. He solidified it for me when he had a big-time effort to lead his AAU team to the State AAU title in June.

For now, Manning is tops on the list.

Here’s a look at the top 20:

• 1. Tamron Manning, Scott County, 6-3: He’s not the flashiest player in the state but is consistent and gets it done.

• 2. Jay Johnson, Woodford County, 6-7: Has made a ton of strides in a year.

• 3. Adam Wing, Rowan County, 6-4: Opened eyes with a memorable Sweet 16; has committed to Oklahoma State.

• 4. Mekale McKay, Moore, 6-4: Off-the-chart athleticism and his basketball skills have improved tremendously.

• 5. Nathan Dieudonne, Trinity, 6-6: Long and athletic; he’s really good when he’s making shots from outside.

• 6. Lemon Gregory, Muhlenberg County, 6-9: Biggest player in the class has a lot of skill and a ton of potential.

• 7. Taylor Barnette, Lexington Christian, 6-2: The best shooter in the class but he can do a lot of other things on the floor.

• 8. Jaylen Beckham, Bryan Station, 6-0: Was top player in the class before he left the state. Now, he’s back with a lot to prove.

• 9. Desmond Dorsey, Jeffersontown 6-4: Primed for a huge season for new coach.

• 10. Charles Foster, Trinity, 6-0: As good as any guard when he gets going.

• 11. Matt Day, Buckhorn, 6-7

• 12. Sawyer Williams, Owen County, 6-8

• 13. Devon Rowan, North Oldham, 6-8

• 14. William Bryant, Moore, 6-4

• 15. Isiah Ivey, Scott County, 6-2

• 16. Troy Saxton, Trinity, 6-2

• 17. Jalen Wesson, Butler 5-10

• 18. D.J. Townsend, Rowan County, 5-10

• 19. Max Clemons, PRP, 6-4

• 20. Jordan Brewer, Bardstown, 6-2

• 21. Mike Terry, Fairview, 6-6

• 22. Anthony Myrks, Bardstown, 5-9

• 23. Logan Baumann, Ohio County, 6-0

• 24. Parker Stansberry, Dixie Heights, 6-5

• 25. B.J. Moore, Sheldon Clark, 6-1
