Prestonsburg has two state championship appearances without a title, compared to Somerset's five.

Not trying to brag because it is not exactly something to be proud of, but as far as programs without a state title go, it's Somerset then everybody else.

No one's resume compares to Somerset's in this catagory. They lost State title opportunities in 4 different decades I believe.

They've had some very talented teams but never have been able to win that elusive crown. That's not even considering the teams that lost to eventual state champs along the way (Corbin and Danville come to mind in numerous years).
