in high school we had 8 plays in our playbook. 5 runs, 3 passes. every play couldve been ran in one of the 7 formations we used, and to the other side of the field. defensively, we had an even front, an odd front, a goal line, and pass defense. very simple stuff.

in college, we ran a 3-4, 3-3 stack, 3-5 flex, 4-3, 4-2 press. Interior LBs were designed to pressure the QB, outside LBs were designed to take away sweeps, screens, options, and anything quick outside the tackles. didnt do well against power running teams
