I hope I said this early on, I'm not looking to argue. I'm only answering the question in my opinion that started the thread. I know Nate as well, and don't think bad of him at all. They're doing a great job in selling the Fairview program and bringing new kids into the district that might otherwise never been there. It's my sincere hope that all the area schools will be powerhouses!

Please don't take offense, I just think the next step for Fairview is to find out where they are. As someone who kinda understands the mindset of the football player, if you aren't playing a team because of what you're afraid will happen, your kids will know that and all the hype in the world won't convince them otherwise. That's why if I were the coach, Raceland and Fairview would play Beechwood, and Lawrence Co, Boyd Co, Greenup Co, and Ashland would all play Bell Co., Russell would play the more dominant teams in their class and so forth, as a measuring stick. It makes you work harder to know you aren't the best yet until you beat them, and when you do your self esteem really grows. That goes back to what I said before, it's important to build a program, not a profile.

I hope nobody thinks I have anything bad to say about any school. I think this will be an excellent year for football across the region. I love spirited debate, too. Nothing vicious, but spirited, so if I come across as insulting or rude, tell me, I'll apologize. I am keeping my commentary in the spirit of debate and not poor sportsmanship.

All valid points and I understand but building a program instead of profile I disagree with you about that. The more successful your program is more kids want to be a part of it. The number one goal that coaches fight nowadays is numbers. Kids don't wanna work that hard as it is required for football especially. Lots of weightlifting, hot practices, etc. If your program plays top of the line every single game and loses all the time then your not building anything. I can see your point of playing really good teams sometimes but not every game. You want good competitive games to get you ready for district play. In my opinion Fairview is building a program not a profile, not their fault some of those bigger schools fell on hard times. And as I stated before not many teams will play a good single A team. Not trying to argue with you just saying that people don't give credit where credit is due. That is frustrating to people and to people that are trying to build a program. Thanks for insight though
