If you go by Max Preps, which I have found to be the most honest ranking system, Betsy Layne is one of the 5 best teams competing in All A State. Coach Wells from Pikeville College even told one of BL assistant coaches that the best team in the All A was University Heights which Betsy Layne has already beaten. Looking at the draw, I believe the winner of the Betsy Layne Gallatin County game will have a great shot at making the finals. The best team in my opinion is Newport Central Catholic and Hazard got the horrible draw of getting them in the second round if they beat University Heights. I wouldn't say that this region is weak, it certainly is not as top heavy as it was a year ago but I would believe it is stronger then the 16th and some of the regions out west. The best part of All A for Betsy Layne is more then likely they are not going to see a Box & 1 on Nathan Martin every single game which should help to get him going.
