As he prepares for his second career playoff game, former Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh told NFPost.com he acknowledges uncertainty about his role with the team.
From the story:
After griping to anyone who would listen for several weeks earlier this season, Houshmandzadeh has grudgingly accepted his role.
âI donât know where I fit,â he said. âSunday, weâll answer that together. Iâll know Sunday and everybody else will know.
âI donât go into the games anymore expecting anything. Iâm going to just bust my butt regardless of if Iâm getting the ball or not, because if we donât win I got a long time to rest anyway.â
For.Houshamdzadeh, this is an unusual experience.
Usually, heâs ready to watch the playoffs as soon as the season ends.
This year, heâs part of the postseason.
âIâm just dying to do anything,â Houshmandzadeh said. âVertical, horizontal, it doesnât matter,. Just make some plays, have some fun. At this point, Iâm being honest. It doesnât matter. I just want to do my part, period.â
(Hope everyone caught the nice, subtle dig at the Bengals with the âusually heâs ready to watch the playoffs as soon as the season endsâ line.)
Houshmandzadeh caught 30 passes for 398 yards and three touchdowns during the regular season.
In 2007, he caught 112 passes for 1,143 yards as a Bengal.
