Okay 98, I can't hold back any longer. (Maybe I have read too many NCC stories this week--and I can understand if someone thinks that I sound a little jealous--which I am NOT).
I don't think that this is the reason why NCC is so defensive of each other. I truly believe (and I am not "intentionally" trying to start trouble here) that NCC is always so defensive of each other because they can't get the job done when it counts. There is also a huge chip on the shoulder of any/all NCC players and fans in the time leading up to a game with them. There is constant conversation about how much better NCC is as opposed to the team that they are playing.
This really doesn't bother me at all--because it actually makes things easier. It is easier to fly under the radar (which is another Beechwood secret that people may/may not understand at this point).
Also--look at the way the players on the field act--that also has a lot to do with the reason why most people are not huge NCC fans. It is almost like watching the NFL. After every little play--there is a big party/big celebration. Eventually--your opponents will use that against you--and a big reason why there are a lot of people up here who are not in love with NCC.
There is also another segment of the population (which I blame on Ryan Ernst) that always mentions NCC in the same breath as good ole' Beechie Tech. That entire line of conversation does nothing to make me feel better about NCC. (NCC is definitely a great program--but they are simply not on the same level at this point. I do admit--it is possible that they could get there in the future).
Again--not to burst your bubble, 98--because of you/your comments--it has made it a lot easier to be happy for NCC. And I truly hope that they win. But I have to be honest--after reading that article this morning--I wanted to puke. It really had nothing to do with tomorrow night. Especially since the freshman will most likely never step foot on the field during the actual game.
I am interested in the conversation that comes from this one. I have yet to truly test the waters of honesty on this board. I hope it remains "civil"!
