A friend of mine just took over Northwest Flint Michigan football program. The first day spring practice he took 12 handguns from his players. This team has not won a game in like 10 years, they have no facilities, no running water in the locker rooms and nothing to dess the kids in. This man has a contract with his players and they do what he tells them.
1. Every player attends summer school without question.
2. Every player will attend school inthe summer after summer school ends, without question.
3. Every player will be passing their grades and will take the SAT,ACT twice each year of High school, without question.
4. Every player will be in by curfew every night without question.

This team has 29 high school players on it and 12 of those kids will be playing D-1 football next fall.

This man expects gains, sacrifice and hard work. This man gives of himself and paid for all the new equipment for his kids to play. Paid out of his pocket, coaches because he loves the game and loves the kids.

This man even drives his mini-van into the projects of Flint and the not so nice places and picks his kids up everyday and takes them home. He is dedicated... I can tell you this.. He does not physically assault his players, he does not curse them down like they are nothing.

But one thing I will say, i would let him coach my kid every day... My kid would be the one at school every day in the summer working on school work and to get better. Want to improve a young mans life.. do it in the school, volunteer to be a tutor when they struggle in class, Volunteer your time to be there when they need a shoulder or a helping hand. I hear stories from him about how his neighborhood was and is now that he is back. It is a jungle out there in some places... But beating the animals while they are caged will get you killed when the fences go down. I pray that his efforts go to maintaining the guidance that these young men need and continue to be the hand that leads rather than the hand that bleeds.
