I am one of the few (that I know of anyways) who actually had a kid that the KHSAA ruled as "eligible" without a boneafide change of address (this was not in football--it was in track). They definitely made the right decision there.
But between the Mitchell case last year and the Public/Non Public situation this year--there are many who probably have strong feelings one way or the other.
I do agree with the fact that the KHSAA does make an attempt to do things the right way. However--they are spread entirely too thin. For instance:
Mr. Tackett (who does a really good job IMO) is responsible for Football, Track and Cross Country. Now--track and cross country are the highest participation sports in the state. When you combine that with the issues that he has to deal with in football--I would have a feeling that he can not give things the time that he would like.
Also, I am not a big fan of things like Trinity and St. Xavier being in different regions for football. IT doesn't take a genius to know that things like this happen so the KHSAA can have a huge gate at the football finals. Geographically--that move just doesn't make sense to me.
I don't want to sound like I am taking shots--but there are some things that are done that I am not crazy about. But I do agree--they are trying--and I can work with that.
Politics at the KHSAA surely you jest!!
If you want to know the truth i am not sure that they are as good as we are saying.
They HATE the ALL A with a passion.
The seperation proposal would have never recevied the support it did if they would have just slapped the wrist of a few schools several years ago.
We have not seen the recruiting issues here as often as central or western Ky has had to deal with it, but it happens.
They treat symptoms rather than dealing with the disease itself.
