I kind of see this Heat team coming together like the Celtics. The big difference being that the Heat don't have the veteran leader down low who is commited to playing defense, and that was Kevin Garnett. However, if Mario Chalmers is thrust into the starting lineup, maybe he could blossom into a solid point guard in the NBA. Not quite like Rondo has, but Chalmers can defend and hit a jumper when needed to. But my Heat starting lineup prediction looks like this:

PG: Mario Chalmers(this is not a sure thing by any means)
SG: Dwyane Wade
SF: LeBron James
PF: Chris Bosh
C: Dexter Pittman/Jarvis Varnardo/Big Z

That's not a bad idea to put Mario Chalmers as the starting point guard. The only reason why I thought Dwayne Wade may be the point guard is because I thought he gets enough assists per game (6.5 apg last season) to be a good point guard. At the same time, I thought Mike Miller would be a great starter since he shoots 48% for his 3-pointers and he's 6'8".

However, now that I see that he's 6'8" (I've just realized that :biggrin, the Miami Heat might want to use him more as a backup small forward, put Dwayne Wade as the shooting guard, and put Mario Chalmers as the starting point guard (similar if not exactly what you have). This lineup would help if you wanted a fast team (a fast-break team). The lineup with Miller as a shooting guard would be more of a half-court team.

By the way, I personally don't think it's odd to have LeBron James to be a point guard. I think he's best as a small forward, but putting him at point guard would create big mismatches. Besides, he did get 8.6 apg last season.
