Congrats to all those honored but this list is very questionable, to say the least.

Thoughts?

How in the world was Dakotah Euton not even mentioned? Kid averaged a double double playing one of the toughest schedules in the state.

Thanks for the information!!!

Glad to see Taylor Newsome getting a well deserved honorable mention.

I agree, this list is missing several of the top players in the state. Dakotah should definitely be listed. He's been on the all state team dice he's been a sophomore.

Not only him, but if we're going to include underclassmen in the selections; how do kids like Tate Cox, Isaac Wilson, and Cody Miller get selected over a kid like Jaylen Beckham and Remy Abell, or seniors Ge'Lawn Guyn, Jeremiah Johnson, Vance Hall, Demarko Foster, and Donovan Gibbs?

This list lost a lot of credibility when they didn't have Aaron Watts as a first or second teamer. Kid scored 3000-PLUS points in his career but there's 10 players who are better than him?!? :please:

Looks like several names were not even on the list and had to be written in.

I’m still not thrilled with the AP all-state nomination process. A few of the players I voted for were write-ins. How are Vinny Zollo and Treg Setty not on the ballot? No Robbie Stenzel either.

Timmy Knipp as an honorable mention? The kid led the entire state in scoring.

While playing in one of probably the worse region in the state.

I believe that TK is an all state player, but there were other just as deserving to be first or second team. Who would he replace in your opinion?

You also trashed the 15th as being one of the worst regions in the state, and then the region representative wins the state title. Maybe some of you "experts" need to start re-evaluating.

Shelby Valley had a great team, but how many other schools would have won a game in the State Tournament? The 15th Region overall does not compare to some of the other regions in the state. The 42nd and 43rd Districts are harder to get out of than the 15th Region, and the 7th Region was brutal this year.

I'd kick Chad Jackson off of the second team and place him as an Honorable Mention and put TK as a second teamer. Or Maybe even put Ricardo Johnson down on the second team and place TK on the 1st team.

I agree, with you on that one man. Valley was the cream of the crop in the 15th by far and away. I do not think that the second best team in the region, Betsy Lane, would have been able to compete in the sweet 16 like Valley did. They could have gave Paducah Tilghman a game but not the teams afterward. So Valley had to get their reps in and experience during the tourneys and classics over the regular season, no district play.

First off, chief, one strong team doesn't make the region tough.

The 15th and 16th are two of the worse regions TOP TO BOTTOM in the state.

BTW, see two posts after mine. Looks like I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Carry on sir.

Chad Jackson averaged 18 ppg, 7 rpg, and 5 apg...not sure where you're getting that he isn't good enough to be a second team selection.

Get out of the mountains and you'll realize there's some pretty good talent out there.

Don't live in the mountains. Guess you don't know where Lewis County is. And Timmy Knipp averaged 31 ppg, 3.4 apg, 8.5 rpg, 4.3 bpg, and 2 spg. I dont care what region he played in that's pretty darn impressive.

The first team should stay the way it is. If anyone gets kicked off for Timmy Knipp, then it's Elijah Pittman on the second team...IMO

No offense, but something very similar could be said to you.

"Get TO the mountains and you'll realize there's some pretty good talent out there"

You've done nothing but continuously bash East Kentucky players, teams, regions, and so forth from the time before the season started until now. It's difficult to sit back and watch for so long before telling you, that you need to wake up and realize that despite the fact that there are several weak teams in East Kentucky.....there are also some very strong teams, and very good basketball players.

Your attitude towards people on this website who attempt to speak highly of people from the mountains is nothing short of embarrassing, and it's time you get over your inferiority complex.

There are good teams, players, and coaches from all over the state. Not just the golden triangle.

Ive lived all over this state, and dont let the skin coler, or the mountain blue collar fool anyone. EKY had some great talent this year, as Kentucky as a whole.

Mountain kids that woud start for every team in KY, if not be the best play on several teams.

Elisha Justice-SV
Ashley Hatfield-SV
Timmy Knipp-Elliot co.
Mikey Terry-Fairview
Trey Williams-Greenup
Aaron Watts- MCC
Adam Wing-Rowan Co.
Colt Barnhill-East Carter.

I'm not disagreeing with you that Knipp is a good player. My question is, what were his stats last year, when he had talent around him? You can't always go on stats alone. Chad Jackson is an excellent basketball player and athlete. He played with a lot of talent around him as Knipp did in 08-09, and that makes his numbers pretty good IMO.

Sure is impressive...but I doubt he would average that playing in the stronger regions around the state. His play on the AAU scene proves that.

Knipp is good but wouldn't average 30 ppg in every region in the state.

See Cody Miller of Knox Central last year. He came in averaging 20+ ppg when they played Holmes and he finished with just 5. Point proven.

You do realize Pittman averaged 15 ppg, 7 rpg, 3 bpg, and 2 spg, right?

Timmy got abused by Pittman last year in the state tournament. No way he should be considered second team over Elijah.

First off, "boss", I never said there weren't good players or teams in EKY. I simply stated that as a WHOLE, that area of the state is fairly weak when it comes to producing good talent. Look at how the better teams have faired against the "golden triangle teams" or even wky teams and you'll realize why I feel this way.

Why do you think people make such a big deal out of it when a "mountain" or "eky school" wins a state title or does well in a tournament? It's not just myself who has this opinion. I'm just one of the few in the "golden triangle" on this website which is why I stick out to all of you who get defensive any time someone doesn't agree with you.

Outside of Shelby Valley, who honestly could've won atleast one game in the state tournament? KCC was the second best team in that area and they lost to a average Butler team in the state tournament....East Carter, who has one of the best players in the mountains, got taken behind the woodshed by Warren Central. You want respect, go out and earn it.

He would average 20-25 in every region. Guarantee it.

A year of experience makes a definite difference. Timmy was the 4th scoring option his sophomore year. They didn't really rely on him to score that much. Knipp is a better player than Pittman.
#29
LClion4life Wrote:He would average 20-25 in every region. Guarantee it.

Yea...and I can guarantee you if he did, his amount of shots per game would also be close to how many ppg he scored.

See Blake Bryan of Villa Madonna as a perfect example. Led the state in scoring last year as a junior but was throwing up 25-30 shots per game.

I'll take a guy that puts up 18 ppg on less than 10 shots over a guy who averages 30 ppg and takes 20+ shots to get it.
#30
Knipp will be the best player in the state next year aside from Chane Behanan. And that's even debatable. Why can't you admit that he deserves 2nd or 1st team?
