Well thats a rumor because Danny Wright is happy right where he is.

You do not what you are talking about, the job is not one being sought after that much. To much politics with the families, A big headache

I spoke to a few people in Owsley County last night during the regional tournament and they said that as of right now, Charlie Davidson was still the coach.

Dont think anyone from the 56th will be at Estill Co next year.Or anyone that has coached there before.

Interesting take on their situation in Estill. From the people I know, this is not a polictical place at all especially being on the edge of mountain counties. I have been told this may be a much better job than what people may think.

Sorry for catching up to this thread so late.

First, what is this about Mr. Tiller resigning? Isn’t he married to an Estill native? Doesn’t he live and teach in Estill County? And doesn’t his son attend Estill? If the above questions are true then it is highly unlikely Mr. Tiller chose to resign. Walking away amid all this controversy would only make the situation more awkward for himself and his family. Thus, it is more likely Mr. Tiller was forced to resign. Regardless, best of luck to Mr. Tiller in dealing with this situation because it will be difficult.

Secondly, Mr. Tiller is gone so focus now on the current candidates. From what I’m reading there seems to be three applicants.

I find it doubtful Danny Wright would choose to leave Lee County. He lives and teaches there, as does his wife. He has built a program there that has proven to be highly successful against Estill. And he does not have to deal with football, leaving him more time with players and the potential to make good money even within the small Lee system. Additionally, leaving one district rival for another never occurs without drama, and Estill is certainly not looking for any more drama at this point.

With regards to Mr. Rison, he is certainly an accomplished coach that understands the game of basketball. However, he is retired and it is questionable how committed he would be to a program he ditched before. Also, there are many people within Estill County that still remember his patronizing attitude toward them when he was at Montgomery. Thus, added to the fact that Mr. Rison and Mr. Tiller are close friends, his hiring would only add to the current drama in Estill.

That then leaves us with this Mr. Christopher. He seems young with only a few years of coaching under his belt. His youth seems to be a hurdle for many Estill fans, but there are others who say that may just be what Estill needs right now. From comments and conversations, Mr. Christopher certainly seems to know the game of basketball and has positive relationships with Estill fans. Plus, if my research is correct, he even played four years of college ball at Centre. And isn’t Centre a pretty difficult school? Regardless of his education, there is still the age factor. Is there an older, experienced Estill Countian who would be willing to serve as Mr. Christopher’s assistant coach? If so, I think age then becomes less of a difficulty. Lastly, it would seem Mr. Christopher has little baggage. His hiring would offer little drama (as he has been away from Estill County High School basketball for years) and it would seem he would be around for the long haul. And let’s face it; even if people are worried about him struggling the first few years, the 56th District is currently awful weak.

I can assure there was no forced resignation. It was a decision that was in the works for a while. We can agree that it is a difficult situation and that it is best to move on and hopefully the Basketball team can find a suitable coach to lead the team.

no I dont think WRIGHT would Lee Co. he has it made there. no football just basketball that isnt to bad but good luck on getting a new coach hate to see coach Tiller leave.
#43
So Express and ballplayer, what do you all think of the current candidates?

as for Coach Tiller, i wish him nothing but the best in what he does or where he goes. he will be missed alot. he's been great to me, if i needed anything, he made sure i had it, he was always there for me, i didn't start watching Estill Basketball til Coach Tiller started coaching.

Wright Won't Leave Lee County, from what ive heard he likes it there.

i don't know if Bart would come out of retirement.

Christopher don't won't it.

other than that, i don't know any more candidates
#45
How do you know Mr. Wright likes it there and how do you know Mr. Christopher doesn't want it? I'm just curious.

the thing about Mr. Wright is either on this thread or the 14th Region Coaches Going or Staying thread.

the thing about Mr. Christopher was on the other Estill County Job Thread that got deleted
#47
I can't read the other threads so post it on here? I know little about Mr. Wright. And I wonder why a young guy like Mr. Christopher would not be interested in his hometown coaching job.
#48
If you don't know the decision makers, then all you are doing is guessing. If you do, and you're blabbing on BGR, then you ain't much of a friend.
#49
I’m not looking to be a friend. I’m looking to find answers. And I highly doubt anyone on here truly knows your so-called decision makers.

the stuff about Mr. Wright is on this thread, replies 15, 23 & 32.

Nothing is certain, especially when you're basing your decision on posts from disconnected individuals like ourselves. I highly doubt Mr. Wright is totally satisfied at Lee and I highly doubt anyone who says Mr. Christopher would not be interested in Estill. Regardless, Mr. Wright is going nowhere.
#52
i've heard that estill has been talking to breathitt's assist coach, that hensley guy.

Not that Mr. Holland would come to Estill, but what is his status at Hazard? And isn’t his son playing football at Eastern Kentucky University? Was he ever offered anything at Estill or surrounding counties due to his son?

2007/8 31-5 (District & Regional Champs)

2008/9 26-9 (Regional Champs)

2009/10 21-10 (District Champs)

Holland is not going to leave the Perry County area. My guess is he's happy where he's at. Hazard's 6th, 7th, and 8th grades teams were very, very good this year. And every one of those 3 classes have a bunch of redshirts. Hazard should be in pretty good shape for the next 4 or 5 years, with maybe a slight rebuilding year next season.
#56
Al Holland will not be at Estill County. He is currently running third in popularity in Perry County just below Jesus Christ, and John Calapari.
#57
His son graduated two years ago.

Estill County probably will not fill the head bb job untill after state tourney. No one mentioned to date is in the picture for the job . It appears that out of respect to every one involved that this would only be the right approach. Just stay tunned, the best is yet to come.
