I think if it was left up to the players that they would be happy with the way it was this year with no changes.

He has thought about quitting coaching a couple times that I know of. I think that he may quit coaching but he will not leave Lee County. He has to many connections with the school and his wife is a Lee countian and cheerleading sponsor.

It's a short drive from Lee County to Estill County. IMO at Estill you have a chance to compete for regional titles every year, at Lee your looking at competing every 10 years. Estill is a bigger school with more kids. If you look at it from a coaching perspective it's a no brainer EC is the better job.

I am friends with Coach Wright and we can put these rumors to rest, he is staying at Lee and would only leave Lee for Morgan Co. where he grew up and played high school ball. Tiller did not think it was such a good place to coach, politics maybe?

Way don't they go with a unknow coach. Some that want to get his name out there. Just take Al Holland, he use to coach at Buckhorn. He take them to state back to back year in the 80's. Now he is the best coach in the 14 Region.

Actually that was John Paul Amis that took the 'Horn to the state tournament not big Al... Regional Champs in 1988 and 1989, Regional Runner-Up in 1990. Coach Holland did have success at Buckhorn and M.C. Napier in the early '90s, prior to the consolidation though.

People told me that it was Big Al. Thanks for letting me know that. I just know that he first coaching job was at Buckhorn. I was to young to remember alot from the 80's.
That is what Estill Co need, someone that want win. So that they can get a better coach job somewere else.

The only season that he ever wanted to leave was gonna be after last season because of what a good team we had leaving but from what i remember he had mentioned it before Dontarius Pittman transferred to Lee County! But, since then coach Wright has really devoted himself to the school and community and there's no way that he is leaving anytime soon! Especially with all the up and coming talent we have in our sophmores, freshman, and a couple 8th graders!

i know another possible candidate that even the players were talking about, but he coaches softball at a different county and wants to get back into coaching boys basketball and has coached at Estill Before and who knows if he comes back to Estill he could possibly be the softball coach next year if coach beard does indeed resign

And just to add to that Lee Co currently has a 6 game winning streak going against Estill Co

And who might this be?

There are def alot of names floating around Irvine. But only a couple in IMO have to oportunity to get the job. I also heard that every coach in the district applied for the job. So, if this is true then yeah Danny Wright does want out of Lee Co.
03-05-2010, 03:19 PM
I know for a fact that that last post if false, because I know for a fact that at least 1 coach in the distrcit di not apply for the job or talked with anyone about it. Lets just say I know the way he thinks.:flush:
