Will Estill Co. be looking for new coach after this season?
#1
Heard through the grapevine that Tiller will not return next season? Anyone know if this is truth or rumor?
#2
May not be a RUMOR.
#3
This will be a good chance for OUTOFBOUNDS to apply for the coaching job.
#4
Come on now they are still playing. At least leave these threads out until the season is over.
#5
I would gladly apply as long as it does not interfere with my fishing trips.

Was just making a comment from the other thread where EXPRESS said that OUTOFBOUNDS should apply. NO HARM.

why do you all think that this is Tiller's Last Year????
#8
I was told he informed the players after practice today that he would not be coaching next season.
#9
if this indeed his last year, Coach Tiller i wish you nothing but the best in where ever you land, if you decide to coach again. you've been great to me and i was extremely glad and happy to be under you! Thanks For Putting Estill back on the map! You Sure Will Be Missed

#11
wonder if the assistants will be leaving or staying???
#12
Like i said before coach Tiller is the best coach that Estill Co has ever had.Hope he thinks about things before he does anything this has been a long season but the future looks great for him.Rebulding years are hard but it happens. Hang in there coach Tiller the true Estill Co fans knows what a great job you have done here and we want you to stay.

This will be a good motivator for his kids to play for his last season too! Good time to let the cat out of the bag if you ask me. Now they have something else to play for, I'm sure this is something he is counting on. Good luck to them in the district for Tiller's last go around.

This will be one of many changes in the 14th, but will save the rest for after the teams get beat out. Changes in every district from what I hear.

Their regular season record is 4-22

Did someone predict at the beginning of the season that the basketball team at Estill would not win as many games as the football team?

sounds like that someone was a small minded person. Why would anyone be predicting who wins the most games? True EC fans are people who want to see "ALL" kids do good, whether it be on the basketball court, football field, baseball field, tennis court, or golf course. When a student is wearing an EC jersey, they should have the support of the community. They should never have to get on this discussion board and see that adults are predicting that students playing one sport will be more successful than another....in the same school....we should want them all to be successful.....not just some of them.

Coach Tiller has done a great job at Estill and I am sorry to see him go.
#19
I would have to say that Tiller was not a great ambassador for Estill... I love the rivalry Estill and Powell have but he made it very personal. Coaches should be setting an example of sportsmanship not displaying the kind of conduct I have seen from him.
#20
I disagree Powell and Estill had a very good rivalry over the past couple of years. Coaches seem to get along and players too. From where I sat the games between the two where very intensely played but never instigated by either Coach.

yes coach tiller lets his pride in the way a lot of times. But he is a great coach who knows more about basketball than any coach in the 14th region. He will be greatly missed.

Pride has nothing to do with the way he acts. Its called anger problems.:ChairHit::HitWall:

The reason Coach Tiller gets "angry" has nothing to do with pride and it's not anger. He played professional basketball for 8 years. Believe me, he does not need to win a high school basketball game to maintain his pride.

He gets upset when he sees his players- "his boys"- get cheated on calls, have the game clocks adjusted to favor opponents, or actually assaulted on the Court (which happened last year).I don't think that It's really so much about winning, for him, as it is about fair play and doing your best.

Nobody ever mentions ALL the good this man has done for his players. Everyone is just looking for some way to tear him down.
Makes me wonder--- Jealous much?

Al Holland, Al Hatcher, Randy Napier, Dickie Adams, Bill Fannin, and Dave Fraley may dispute that. After all each of the above have been to the state tournament multiple times and Fannin, Napier and Fraley have state titles.

It's one thing to support Coach Tiller. Al Holland? Alan Hatcher? Dave Fraley? (To name a few)... no need to insult the others to support Coach Tiller is there?

Looking at the KHSAA Website the win total is 76 not 66 and we are forgetting a big upset of Preston Knowles and Clark County in the first round of the districts in 2004. He sent many players to college of which only one finished. They had a great year in 2008 when they had one of the best seasons in Estill history and were down four at halftime I believe to the Hazard team in the regional semifinals who went to the sweet sixteen. My point is that he is not perfect but was a very good coach for Estill a hard place to coach at. The one district he has is 20% of the districts ever in the school history. He has resigned and is finished. Let him rest and decide what to do and what his future may hold.
