Will Dunn the Danville player hoping to transfer from Danville to Boyle Co. his senior year has been ruled ineligible by the KHSAA 2/17/10.
Don't know how to post a link but the article is in the Danville Advocate Messanger. The comments afterwords are very interesting.

Heard he maybe headed now up to Lexington Catholic. Haha.
KHSAA is like a box of chocolates you never know what you are getting.

If he isn't eligible at Boyle why would he be eligible at Lex. Cath.?

I was thinking the same thing. Is this just preliminary thing that they always do, and the school has to show proof that is was a legit move?

I would think the parents have to prove that it was a legit move.

Not a chance of this happening.

It just shows us time and time again why this rule is stupid.

I don't like this rule either...however...think about it...great teams would continue to get better and other teams could not compete. Think about it if you were a good athlete you would just go to the best team. I don't have the answer.....except be fair in all the rulings by the KHSAA.

I have no opinion on the Dunn case, but it is more interesting how these cases continually seem to go in different directions on what appear to be similar facts. Sometimes it appears that celebrity programs and athletes get more leniency and sometimes, like with Dunn and Boyle, it seems the KHSAA bends over backwards not to appear to show favor to the more successful programs that are being closely watched.
Regardless of the outcome in this case, I think most everyone can point to a very similar case where the decision went the opposite direction...just wish you could explain why or predict future decisions. Maybe unpredictable is the way it is supposed to be?

Would you like to explain which cases you are comparing this case to? Might help my feeble mind understand what you are trying to say.

Without picking out certain cases and starting unneeded arguments, everyone should agree that kids have transferred for perceived better athletic opportunities long before now and, in some cases, been deemed eligible. Not from the Danville area, not a fan of Boyle, and readily admit the KHSAA may have gotten it right this time...just saying they could have easily gone the other way without surprise.

This kid will end up playing somehow.

The KHSAA is a joke and very inconsistent(sp). Rashard Carter got to play for two highschool teams in one year, after starting the season at Ashland, he got into trouble so he "transferred" to Greenup County and finished there. He had the chance to play the same team from two different schools, its stupid!

WOW!!!!!
They might change their mind though in a couple of weeks!!

Carter was a foster kid, he was taken out of a home and moved into a foster home in GC. Totally different situiation, Carter didnt leave a good Ashland team to come and play for GC. If he would have been able to, he would have stayed at Ashland. Dunn is leaving for sports reasons.

I wonder if someone asked for open records which includes emails, if they would find that maybe, just maybe schools other than Danville made noise about the Dunn transfer.:devilflam

The KHSAA usually rules against most transfers initially. Boyle County will appeal and I believe he will be playing for Boyle County in the fall. I'm sure Coach Harp is doing everything possible to see that he doesn't play for Boyle and would not expect anything else.

I think Dunn will get to play for Boyle this fall, and ill be susprised if he dosent. In closing i think Sam Harp would do anything he could to cause Boyle co.problems he always has.I dont recall him ever complaining about any of the players that transferred from Boyle to Danville over the years just to play sports.Harp is not the class act everyone at Danville makes him out to be.truth be known the Danville fans praising him in the advocate are the same ones wanting him replaced as football coach at Danville even as we speak.

What about the big lineman that transfered from Boyle to Danville in 2008. I think he signed with Campbellsville Harp didn't turn him away.

Boyle had a QB last year that played at 3 high schools. Now they want another transfer to come in and save the day. By the way Coach Chris Pardue layed the groundwork for the state title you guys just got. He suffered through 2 tough seasons and you guys ran him off. No loyalty. If French has a couple of avg. seasons you guys will be saying he is to old or some garbage like that. If Pardue had still been around Boyle would have been right where they were last season. But if we go by the logic you state above maybe coach Harp and Pardue just suddenly became bad coaches and forgot all the football they know. What a laugh. You sound like a parent out ina parking lost somewhere. Give the coach and players a break.

Now this is funny and makes me laugh Foxtrot! :thatsfunn Pardue was a great Offensive mind, but not a head coach. He could not run a program and it showed during his time. French has the same Coaching staff as Pardue, just handles the program a lot different and better. The talent was just as good under Pardue as it is now, the only difference is French gets the talent to play to their ability, under Pardue they was scared of being yelled at or walked the hallways.

Boyle did not make Dunn come to their school. He did this on his own with his parents. If you knew anything about Boyle as you think you do, you would already know this. Just another outsider making a false accusation.

Very jealous!! But most people are when the other team is on top. That's why we play. :blabbermo Ooopppss told on myself. NO i don't want Boyle or Highlands or Catholic schools to get all the good transfers. 'Dag gummit send some of them to some of us at Garrard or Lincoln. But you know it is true that Rees played 4 years as a starter and the QB was shopped around by pops. But hey it is the American way. BTW i am not really angry this is just kind of fun. You guys at Boyle should not even respond to us bottom feeders until we get our acts together. :flush:
