With the addition of Little Al Holland Jr. as the Offensive Coordinator, I would say the Bears will get a lot more commits from Eastern Ky. They will play a great style of offense if you like to see a lot of points. Good luck to these guys and the Bears.

Wow, good pickup for PC. Pikeville College is going to be getting a lot of the top overlooked athletes in the area over the next few years. You won't be seeing much of some of the top players in the area that don't go D-1 going off to Georgetown anymore. They will want to go play in the high scoring offense that the Bears are going to run.

PC will sign Wes Ray, Thursday 1pm at East Ridge. Then Keith May and Channing Pugh will sign as soon a date can be set up.

Glad to see PC picking up more in state kids instead of going down to South Carolina. Best of luck to Jordan and Cory and the rest of the Pikeville football signees.

Does anyone know which of the kids that are signing are getting full football scholarships? I would like to know how much football scholarship money is going to the players from the mountains. I've already heard that only a few of these players are actually getting football scholarships and some of the others didn't getmoney from football. I hope the Bears give most of the football money out to local kids.

You are right Hustle. From what I hear anyways.

Anyone want to start a list of kids going to PC?
02-25-2010, 04:59 PM
According to Coach Johson- no one get's a full scholarship. They have 24 scholarships that are divided among the team. I'm guessing they are divided into thirds or perhaps into fourths. I've heard that players can expect to still be responsible for around $21,000.00 after they receive their share of a scholarship.

NAIA schools do not give out full athletic scholarships. They will offer maybe around $2,000 from the athletic dept. Then they search your grades and ACT score to see what kind of academic scholarship you may be eligable for, which can range up too around $7,000 at Pikeville College. Then the rest they either get you to use student loans to pay or use financial aid.

It's only like 22K a semester to go to Pikeville.

I do know that kids will turn in their financial aid forms along with the other proper paperwork and football would pickup the rest. I'm also wondering which kids got football money and which one's didn't. In other words, who were the Bear's coaches really after from the mountains.

Academic, Athletic, and Financial Aid will make PC very affordable for alot.

I'm pretty sure none of these student athletes are going to reveal what kind of football scholarship money they received from PC. But, you can rest assured, if they didn't want to be at PC or get a good enough deal, they wouldn't be. The list of players Coach Johnson and staff have recruited is impressive....most of them could play at the college level at several different colleges.
And, PC quotes cost of attendance at 22 K per YEAR, not semester. That price includes tuition, dorm room, books, etc. everything.
Congrats to all these players and their families. Hard work pays off!

well in the henry county boys case and prolly others they get their finacial aid pakages and then all the other money out there beucase pikeville college has a system called the pikeville promise which helps students afford it which in essence can be a full ride where the student has no loans and is debt free! but i agree pikeville done a heck of a job recruiting this year

I believe that most all college sport programs look for eligible monies for all students before exhausting what little scholarship funding that they are allotted. This is a means to allow more kids to be able to enjoy the experience of playing sports at a higher level and most importantly....getting an education. Pikeville College is no different than any other program when it comes to that. I believe that this level is allowed 24 schollarships......ittakes quite a few more players than that to have a football program. I think it can be called budgeting.....or just plain using common sense.

Chris stumbo from Allen Central signed today, Congrats Chris!!!!!
I wish Pikeville College would update their Football page. The page has not changed since November.
Keeping the signees updated as well as the general public is helpful in a program.
Check out Georgetown, Cumberland or even Lindsey Wilson, all of their pages have all of the signees listed.
