Mr.Kimball Wrote:Yeah maybe. Hey, I apologized, that's all I know to do?

I don't think you need to apologize to anyone. It was just a misunderstanding on a poorly worded post. You stated your opinion. That's what this website is for. If we all agreed, this site wouldn't be fun.

I think Mickey Newsome from Pete Grigsby teams McDowell teams deserves to at least get mentioned.

These players aren't on the list to vote for but I thought I would mention them. For the people that have seen them play I think most would agree they belong.

Randy Hensley- Belfry, Georgia
Steve Fyffe - Flat Gap, Ole Miss
Orville Stepp- Marshall
Howard Wallen- Johnson Cent, MSU- I think the best player to play there.
Harry Meek-Johnson Cent, UofL Baseball. Could have played BB there.
Jack Wireman- Johnson Cent.
Mike Castle- Johnson Cent.
Larry Hall-Martin, UK
Johnny Mayo- Martin
Mike Talent- Maytown
Tommy Martin- McDowell
Stan Roberts- McDowell
Junior White- Meade Memorial
Alvin Ratliff- Meade Memorial, UK, Delta State, All-America Hon.Mention
Henderson Payne- Meade Memorial
Paul Butcher- Meade Memorial, Pikeville College
Phillip Ward- Meade Memorial, Austin Peau
Richard Conley- Oil Springs, UK
Thurman Blair- Oil Spring
Wimp Conley- Oil Springs
Jack GAry Williams- Paintsville, George Town-All-American
Tom Daniels-Paintsville, EKU
Jim Allen- Paintsville, Baylor
Bob Porter- Paintsville, Baylor
Jerry Pelphrey- Paintsville, East Tenn State
Freddie Setser- Prestonsburg, Ole Miss ?
Beecher Hale- Prestonsburg
Johnny Rice- Salyersville
Lincoln Collinsworth- Salyersville, UK
Tom Edwards-Louisa
Terry Young- Blaine
Don West- Blaine, Vandy or Ole Miss
Van Lear had a player in 1965 by the name of Collins or Blevins that was really good, he and Alvin Ratliff had some really good battles.
If I have some of these players at the wrong school it's because 45 years can play tricks on the memory.
Mr.Kimb., there may be a name or two on here you recall as a young lad.

Mr.Kimball Wrote:I did read what it said.

It said if you wanted to nominate someone as an "honorable mention". When you phrased it that way it sounded like this was the total and complete list and you would like other names to be included that would be "the almosts". Kinda like an All State team with with another seperate group that would be considered as the honorable mention group. Evidently I took your phrasing in a context in which you did not intend. For that I apologize. You do have to admit that with that wording it would be easy to be interpreted in that manner. Again I apologize for speaking out of line.

No problems

I also must clarify that when I originally posted this thread, the write-in portion on our end at www.wdhr.com wasn't ready either so I can see where the confusion came from.

kyrifle...This partial list was created amongst some of guys having a conversation over dinner at Jerry's in Pikeville! We also beat it around a little during the day...We purposely left off some names just get things started here!

We just hope everyone enjoys the promotion because we hope to try and bring in some these guys to be honored at the Expo during the 15th region tournament.

That's who I mistakenly referred to as Phillip Howard earlier. I'll ponder on it a little more rifle to see if I can come up with someone else.

Very nice list...We had talked about some of those names, but not all of them. We needed more help with names in the Johnson County area too.

Louisa- Jim Bob Michaels and Drexel Short need to be included.
