This one just came across the radio. Very, very surpised. Nice road win for West Carter.

Nice win for the Lady Comets they are playing well right now. Perry 30 points and 14 rebounds for West.

Just outplayed tonight. Lady Comets played tough and got the victory. Kittens have time to learn from this and get it all together by districts.

Congrats to West, you gals played hard. Perry played well and seems to have a very good attitude, was very impressed with her.
Kittens learn from the mistakes and get ready to play Russell Thursday.

Very nice win for the Lady Comets. Actually not that surprised. West has been playing well lately and I figured it was just a matter of time before they had a big win. Sounds like Perry played like the MVP of the region tonight. Her versatility makes her a tough match up for all 16th region teams. IMO no team in the 16th is really good enough to "guarantee" a victory night in and night out.

Very quality win for West Carter!

Just read the West-Ashland article in the Daily Independent and I thought it was a pretty good article. As a fan of the 16th region, I am usually pleased that 16th region coaches usually do a very good job complimenting the opposing team, whether the contest was a win or loss and West coach Tex English is no exception. I believe that English showed his class in his compliments about both teams. He rightfully praised the play of his team, and especially that of Perry. He also had a few good words about the Kittens. Unfortunately, I also heard part of the post game radio show for the Rowan - East game. Sadly I cannot place one of these coaches in the same light. Comments about how his team may not have a "gaudy 19-3 record against celler dwellers of the 16th region" (and then actually naming some of these so-called celler dwellers) is IMO not in good taste. I have no problem with a coach that supports his team 100% and that even says his team is the best in the region. But this coach went over a line with some of his remarks.
I'm sure that I will be called out by some for this post, and that is fine, I just feel very strongly that some things should not be voiced in public, especially when it could be hurtful to teenage ball players.

I understand what youre saying about Rowans Coach not needing to say this, because youre correct. There is no place for bashing another team on the radio as a coach, but were not coaches...So i will ask...is he telling a lie???
East Carter has a schedule made of choc pudding. They havnt played anyone. Rowans out of region schedule includes Madison Central(top 5), Lex Christian, South Larual, Tates Creek, Highlands, Montgomery County, Webster County, Lex Cath, and Mason County. Fans and Press look at Record alone, and see RC with 5 losses, and say RC is way down this year, and East Carter is 19-4, but they will play 21 of their 25 games this season against the 16 region. While RC will play 26 games in the season, and only 12 against regional foe. East comes out with a pretty record, and the ADI headlines read "East is a beast"

Isnt Rowan ranked #1, whatelse do you want them to do.

Off base and out of line!! East has played Bryan Station, Breathiitt Co., Campbell Co., will play Ashland twice, an obviously pretty good Boyd Co. 2 times, West Carter at least twice, who just beat Ashland by the way. Just because you're playing teams outside the 16th region doesn't always mean you're playing better teams. Rowan plays a good schedule, no doubt about it, but East does too. Sometimes it's best just to talk about your own team and keep your mouth shut about other teams. Especially since they've already beaten you once and probably came within 1 made shot of doing it again in front of a big crowd on your senior night!!

Oh, I just looked at their schedule on the KHSAA website, East has also played a very good Notre Dame team to an 8 pt game while playing their 5th game in 6 days, yes the same Notre Dame team that beat the 128-13 E-town team. Rowan is a good team but so is East, let's give them both their due!!

Very nice win for the Lady Comets. Kittens will bounce back. As far as a coach commenting on any team besides his own, well, people can draw their own conclusions on that one.

WOW! is about all you can say about this game. Does that put West in the top 3???

I just checked the KHSAA website, add Notre Dame to who else East has played, an 8 pt loss which I believe was East's 5th game in 6 days! Yes, a very good Notre Dame which has beaten E-town among others!!

First of all, your right, I'm not a coach but I like to think of myself as a sportsman so I think my opinion is valid. Second, I have no problem with a coach publicly talking about the strength of his/her schedule. I do believe that Rowan has the toughest schedule in the region and it should prepare them well for the post-season. I do have a problem if a coach feels he must bash other region teams (and in doing so, their players) to make his point. And sadly, I could also take issue with a few other of the coach' comments that I also found to be inappropriate but I think I have made my point.
As for the ADI headlines, lets face it, team nicknames and regular season rankings mean nothing right now - better just to ignore all that hype. For anyone to believe that any 16th region team has a substantial lead as #1 over all other regional teams - well, they haven't been to too many games this year.

Another post of your's that I have found to be insightful and accurate since I started reading this board.

I agree Rowan plays a harder schedule but there are many factors that go into scheduling games. Location, location, location When you are an hour closer to lexington it is easier to play teams from the Lexington area. It is not feasible sometimes for East or Ashland to even play them during the week and get back at 11:30 or 12:00 on a school night. It is just as close for Rowan to play LCA or Lex Cath. as it is to play Boyd or Russell so of course there schedule is going to be harder. Schedules are set in advance for most schools The years Rose Hill had there great teams and say Ashland played them 2 times you can add them to hard teams on your schedule but now you call them cupcakes that is just the way it is. Rowans location is why they play more out of region teams. With all that said I think Rowan is the favorite because of defense, that will keep you in games when your offense isn't clicking.

Congratualtions to West on the win! They are improving each game and put themselves back in the running for a district/regional title.
On the subject of coaches comments...that was a low blow by Rowan and an apology should be granted. The times I have heard the radio show with East coach they have been more then complimentary to the other schools and do not bash who they play. This was not only offensive to East but to each team East has went up against. You cannot compare strength of records until you play the same teams under the same conditions.

Not only was this said about playing cellar dwellers he called two schools as those cellar dwellers (Rose Hill and Greenup County) a coach has every right to talk about playing a tough schedule but does not need to talk about other teams schedule or talk about other teams who are down. Very immature IMO.

Sure looks like you can add another team to the "top three" !! Could be as many as five teams in the three.
