5A District 8 2010
#1
I just wanted to throw around a discussion that might last till spring practice and beyond. Talk about what is returning, and who will be some big name players that will make a difference in this district this year coming up. I personally even though I am a little biased think Logan Johnson will be the player of the year in this district. Let the debate begin.

Thanks for starting this thread Cougarpride!!

For the sake of discussion, and because it's been such a loooong winter, I 'll have to remind you that Johnson threw for 35 yards the first meeting against Harlan County and 32 yards in the playoff game at LCC. That being said, he is still a dandy QB and can run the ball when he has to. He will only get better.

The Perry Central linebacker, Robinson, could be ranked No. 1 coming into the season.

I'm pretty sure Harlan County senior defensive end Jordan Calton will be ranked among the top 10 players in the district. You could also make a case for senior tackle/nose guard Brian Owens and junior running backs Cody Taylor and Marcus McMillian and sophomore linebacker Tucker Lewis. Senior defensive back/receiver Dylon Smith could be an impact player if he is healthy.

My early guess on rankings:

Harlan County
Letcher Central
Perry Central
North Laurel
Whitley County
Clay County

Noah Reid, CJ Miller, JV Hooker, Tanner Gilbert, John Wilson would be the top players in a lot of districts. But please continue overlooking this group from Clay County.

Reid, Miller and Gilbert will probably be there.

Good luck to all

very talented group for sure, this should be the best year in sometime. I see them making the playoffs this year but will be lucky to finish third in the district. Harlan and Letcher both have most of their team back from last year.

Daryll Beatty will be looked at being really quick and can catch the ball. Can't wait to see what he does his senior year.

There is no doubt that Clay Co will be making a run for 1st place. A lot of good players return on the team.

Are all the teams having good off-season program? I know the weather has caused some delay in weight lifting because of schools being cancelled so often

This is the way I think they will finish
1. Clay County
2. Harlan County
3. Whitley Co.
4. Letcher Central
5. North Laurel
6. Perry Central

The kid from Clay County will be player of the year.

Which kid from Clay?
I doubt anyone from Clay will be ranked at the top going into the season.

It looks like this district will be just as exciting as it was last year.
