Perry County Central 56 - Buckhorn 47
#1
Final.

Game was closer than it looks.
#2
Congrats Perry
#3
Congrats Commodores.
#4
Wow sounds like a barn burner..wish id went now
#5
It was a two point game til Buckhorn's coach got a T and gave Korey 4 or 5 free throws. Alot of Buckhorn support. Congrats Dores
#6
I was there.Perry led 50-47 with 11 seconds left and had possession when technical was called.2 free throws were due to personal foul on Buckhorn and Perry was in double bonus.Martin made the four free throws and they got ball in and scored again.
..I think without the technical Perry would have won by about 5.He made the 2 free throws on personal foul but Buckhorn would have had possession and chance to cut into lead so could have been closer.
..Does anybody have stats?Chris Noble had 2 early fouls for Perry which hampered him in first half.Buckhorn I believe led 2 at end of first quarter. They led 31-25 at half.Perry took lead at 3:32 in 3rd quarter.Buckhorn possibly got tired and some of shots outside fell just short and less movement than first half and Perry got couple of open looks and Brewer hit two 3s and maybe as team three 3s in something like 9-0 or 9-2 run.Perry went up at least 6.No more than 8 until at end and Buckhorn cut it back to 2 I believe near the end and as said 3 with 11 seconds left.
..Tempers got heated at times and some double technicals. No fights in game.
.Both will be in WYMT and Buckhorn will fight in All A to go to state.Hazard-Buckhorn could be a good game.
..If Perry meets Buckhorn in district it is at Hazard and we know region is at Breathitt.
..Appreciate it if anybody can post stats.I know game was on WKIC 97.9.

In addition to game summary-Buckhorn plays Shelby Valley in WYMT so they got a tough draw there.
#8
And Perry plays Clay Co. in WYMT
#9
Congrats Perry Central, looks as if Buckhorn can make it interesting for Shelby Valley.

Day and Colwell have some bad attitudes and Day is a dirty player. But I don't think Perry should have won this game as bad as they played, that T on Buckhorns coach was bogus too.
#11
On a positive note though the 2 dunks by Tyler Mullins were pretty cool.
#12
I knew that this one was going to be a barnburner! IMO i really believe that Buckhorn would have won this game if it was played at Buckhorn instead of PCC! But still, Congrats to the Commodores!!
#13
Great game by both teams, I thought the officiating was terrific. Neither team can complain about the refs. Only thing I didn't agree with was John Noble's technical. Corey Martin really carried the Commodores tonight, I'm not sure how many he had, but he won them this game.

Martin had 21, and Idk about the officiating being great.

Congrats PCC

I didn't think that Day and Colwell had bad attitudes. In fact, I thought PCC thre alot of cheap shots that went uncalled. But that is just my opinion. Hard fought game on both sides, though.

Day isn't like that when he is somewhere where he can't be protected. everyone is a little more brave when there are 10-15 people around to protect and not let anything happen. but sounds like buckhorn played the game of their lives. how many did the great matt day have anyway?

Solid win PCC

Not really, Buckhorn is a much better team than I thought and could beat anyone in the mountains on any given nite.

You have got to be kidding me. If PCC breathed on Matt Day or Stidham it was a foul.

What grade is Scottie Blank in?
#22
Fun physical game to watch. Corey Martin had a great game, no one from Buckhorn could guard him. Tyler had two awesome dunks! The second dunk shifted the momentum in Perrys favor. Buckhorn can beat anyone in the region, I'd hate to draw them 1st round of district. Matt Day was being a punk out there. Officiating was ok. Is this 16 straight wins at home for Perry now?

Yeah, the T on Noble seemed bogus. He said something though, must have been the magic word.

I doubt it was anything worse than what coach Hatcher probably said.

good win. only time they played good was a little bit in the 2nd half. jordan had 2 oops to tyler which were both great. i would hate for anyone to ever have them officials. martin did lead the way for the dores and hit some clutch fts in the end.

buckhorn is a top 5 team in the region and is better than i thought. i still think stidham is the best player on that team. after watching matt day play tonight, he still doesnt impress me. not a top 5 player in the region, i dont even think hes a top 10 player in the region.

We think the same, except I do think he is a top 10 in the region.

I would rank the Horn 3rd or 4th in the region. I've not seen Breathitt play yet, but I would imagine them to be about even. Well know more when they play each other and Perry/Knott. This is a rivarly game, it was going to be close no matter what. Look at the UL/UK game today.

The refs pick on Hatcher, he really can't say anything to the refs without getting a T.

This is true.

Good showing for Buckhorn, its hard to go in to Perry Central and come away with a win. Sounds like they were in the game till the end. The home streak for Perry will end later this year. They have Shelby Valley, Knott Central, and Christian County at home. A possibility of Perry losing all three of these games.
