Heard Mike Holcomb might be taking this job,who is in running for it,he has let it be known this is only job he would like to have or leace B obcats for,would hate too see him leave!!!

The Richmond Register has confirmed through numerous sources that Madison Central football coach Kenny Turner has been fired.
Turner coached the Indians for seven seasons and had a 51-30 overall record, including a 6-7 playoff record. He also coached 22 student-athletes who signed college scholarships, including Paul Warford, Larry Warford, Ryan Barnes and Keshawn Simpson.
The players were informed of the schoolâs decision not to bring back Turner on Tuesday.
The Indians finished last season with an 0-9 record and lost in the opening round of the Class 6A Playoffs to Bryan Station. Central scored just 95 points and had just one lead all season â which lasted for just more than three minutes.
Turner enjoyed a tremendous amount of success early in his tenure at Madison Central. The Indians went 11-2 in 2003 and 2004 and advanced to the regional final each year.
Central posted winning records in each of the next three seasons (7-4 in 2005; 6-5 in 2006; 7-5 in 2007), then went 9-3 in 2008 before losing to Male in the second round of the playoffs.
After graduating 17 standout seniors, the Indians struggled badly last season, losing each game by at least 14 points.
Turner was a halfback and defensive back at Madison High School (1972-75) before signing to play at Morehead State, where he played receiver (1976-80). The Richmond native then served as an assistant coach (1981-93) and later as head coach at Holmes High School (1994-96).
Turner was an assistant at Central (1996-1997 and 1999-2002) before taking over after Paul Rains left the school.

RICHMOND — It may not be known for some time who will replace Kenny Turner as the head football coach at Madison Central High School, but the search has already begun.
“We are going to advertise (the opening) and see where it goes from there,” Central athletic director Gary Ford said on Wednesday.
Turner was fired on Monday after seven seasons as head coach at Central. The Richmond native had a 51-30 record during his tenure, including two trips to the regional championship game (2003, 2004). He also coached 22 student-athletes who signed college scholarships, including Paul Warford, Larry Warford, Ryan Barnes and Keshawn Simpson.
However, the Indians finished last season with an 0-9 record and lost in the opening round of the Class 6A Playoffs to Bryan Station.
“Rightfully or wrongfully, the coach becomes the scapegoat when things don’t go right,” Ford said.
Not only was Turner fired, but all of his assistants were relieved of their duties as well, including Teddy Turner and Velmar Miller.
The Indians’ new coach will get to choose his own staff — which still could feature some familiar faces, of course.
“I am hopeful that a lot of the guys will be back,” Ford said of Turner’s assistant coaches.
Speculation surrounding the job began almost as soon as word of Turner’s firing became public earlier this week.
Central officials were supposedly very interested in Jim McKee, but it seems very unlikely that he would leave Scott County where he serves as head football coach and athletic director. McKee’s wife also works in the Scott County school system.

Don't see Holcomb leaving, but would be a good move for him if he could retire and get and easy 100 day contract to coach. Coach Browne from Perry I'm sure will be interested in this job as well.
Do they have a time line for when they may want to hire? Just wondering how fast will they fill this opening.

Holcomb would be crazy for leaving Breathitt, yeah they may have more athletes and bigger number of turn out, but when you get all that it means stiffer the competion. He be up there with the big boys.( Trinty,St.X) It would be impossible to win State. If he is smart he will stick right were he is, he is like a god in Breathitt.

from whats going around Jim McKee (Scott County), Mark Dixon (Hazard) & Johnny Poynter (Bourbon County) have Been Mentioned but Jim McKee is in running for the Dunbar Position. Dixon was a Assistant @ MC in 2001. Poynter lives in Richmond, but is the head coach @ Bourbon County.

Poynter or Browne will not get interviewed. MC will be looking for a Coach to come in and make them competitive with chances to win the district soon.

I dont want to see Bert Browne leave Perry County but I will tell you one **** thing, you WILL NOT find a better more dedicated coach than Coach Browne.

Oliver Lucas- Former Bryan Station Coach
ShaDon Brown- Rowan County HC
Johnny Poynter- Bourbon County HC
These names are the only ones that I have heard around town.

Out of these names, I'll agree with kymom. Bert Browne gets the job over this group easily.
