Both players are great players.
But for the record,
Cottril was 18-20 from the free throw line
Justice was 12-12 from the free throw line.
This is a fact, I am not just guessing, this is the official stat.

It was a great game to watch and both Justice and Cottrill are outstanding players. Justice had the better all around game and his supporting cast was much better. Both young men gave the fans plenty to cheer about and having the game broadcast on tv gave the fajns that couldn't attend a chance to see two future Big East players and I commend the people of Fast Lane making it the event in the state.

Fair enough.

Something that everyone has failed to mention in the comparison/debate or whatever you want to call it....Cottrill is playing for a new team that has only been practicing since Nov. 16th.....Justice is playing with the same guys that he has played with since middle school and they have been practicing since Oct. 15th....Not that either of them need excuses made for them, just something to consider

If you want to talk college potential, Justice has more upside at point guard than Cottrill, Cottrill would be a better two or maybe a combo guard than Justice, but if the category is point guard, you have to go with Justice , especially when you add in the intangibles

You're comparing apples to oranges here. Cottrill isn't a true pg like Justice is. He plays pg because he is their best player so his team wants the ball in his hands as often as possible. He will be a shooting guard at the next level.

I agree, so why do all the rankings have him as a point guard?
And my point was, if you were going to pick a point guard between the two, it would be Justice

Elisha is a very good player who has been asked to play for Rick Pitino, he said he may still have a scholarship for him this year, but he wants him to walk on so he doesn't loose him as player, because he may not have one till next year. Cottrill is very selfish with the ball, Elisha is not, he will pass off the ball in a heartbeat, if another player has a better shot. A point guards job is to take the ball up the court, set up the play and then put it into motion. It's not to be a ball hog, it's to run the team. That is the way Elisha is, I would assume Cottrill would be more of a shooting guard, since he is a ball hog. Walking on to Louisville, and playing for Rick Pitino, and maybe having to wait a year to get a basketball scholly, just to say I'm on scholarship, knocks playing for Bob Huggins out of the water in my opinion. Pitino saw Elisha play in Vegas in a tournament when there was about 40 college coaches. Elisha, it was told put on quite a show, and that is what put him on Pitino's radar, he say's he wants him to back up Silva. I was raised in WV where my parents still reside and still follow the 'eers for football, but I still think Elisha is getting the better deal. Regarding the refs, I spoke with one of the players who guarded Cottrill, and they said you couldn't tip him, or they would call you for it.. Reminds me of Dwayne Wade during the Heat-Mavericks series where the refs turned Wade into a primma-donna. You could not lay a finger on him, it was sickening. I have lost my faith in college sports and the integrity.(refs) I don't know if I will ever get it back. They strip Memphis for something they can't prove with Derrick Rose, but USC has been unsactioned for years for rules that have been blatenly broken and the NCAA doesn't care.

Because that's the position he currently plays.
Rivals lists Ricardo Johnson of Holmes as a small forward I believe because he's 6'5, but in reality he'll be a combo guard at the next level.
I agree if you're picking a TRUE pg between the two, it'd be Justice. But Cottrill is a better scorer between the two.

Do you really need to knock one kid to try and make Elisha look better? It's posts like this that make people root against Valley and Justice.
It was stated earlier that Justice obviously has more talent around him than Cottrill so maybe that's why he seemed like a "ball hog" to you.
Did you say the same thing about Jon Hood last year when he lacked the talent around him and had to do it all? OR was he not mentioned because he never went against Valley so you didn't have to compare the two?

Cottrill plays better as a shooting guard, and a shooting guard usually is a pure 3 shooter like Cottrill is. Elisha is a true point guard, both coaches want them for different positions. Why is this the first time he has played with this team? Where is he from? Everyone is saying Cottrill is better, because he is ranked, Elisha is up for Mr. Basketball this year. As we have seen in the NBA, Kentucky players usually don't get taken as high as some other players, but we have had several who were Nat'l Championships as starters, such as Tayshaun Prince, Detroit, Nazr Muhammad, Spurs, Antoine Walker, Miami Heat, Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics. There may be another 1 I'm missing. There are players who were not drafted by the NFL who ended up being defensive player of the year, James Harrison of the Steelers. Diamonds truly are sometimes in the rough. I wish them both well.
