sstack Wrote:Or was it better coaching making half time adjustments?

I believe the players when they tell me they ran out of gas in the second half (as they did in 2006). Every coach makes adjustments for the 2nd half,.....but you and I both know that when you start to tire out you lose some of your speed and are unable to make your assignment. You can say it was coaching all you want, but you can't deny having an offensive and defensive unit is a huge advantage over a team, who have the majority of kids playing both ways.
Question for JC fans . Why did you have so few kids dressed at the game? Why dont you have enough kids to not play so many both ways? This in no way meant to be knock on your program.I would think with the high level of football you play kids would be coming out of the woodwork to play. IMO if you guys ever develop a pass game to keep defences honest and shore up the D esp. pass D your chances at state will greatly increase .Your run game however is top notch.

They did look tired in the 2nd half, but was not sure how much was fatigue and how much was dejection. I do not remember JC being that small in numbers last year.

Don't think so don't want to read about you degrading another program...
Time for my two cents. Nice game by both teams. Both made some mistakes; both played very hard.

There was some unnecessary extracurricular activity but folks shouldn't let it outshine the clean hard hitting play. The one JC player who attempted to take out the knees from behind of the Highlands player on Highlands first td should be suspended for the first game next year if he's not a senior or otherwise punished by Matney or the principal at JC. I've watched that kid in several games. He plays hard and is a tough kid. But there is no room in the sport for what he did. Hopefully he woke up Saturday morning and realized what he did was wrong.

But focusing on the positives, JC played hard and the kids did their best. I felt bad for the JC seniors. Sounds like JC will have another good team next year. I won't be surprised if we will be making the trek to Paintsville next year.

Enjoyed meeting some folks from JC. Other than the outcome of the game, I hope the JC folks had a nice visit and a safe trip.

Time for the Birds to focus on the Maroons and for me to read some more outlandish predictions by some of my fellow Highlands fans on that thread. :HitWall::biggrin:

This is just my opinion so don't take it as a fact. However this is the way I see it! If kids are not the stars or not starting then their best line is I will just quit. Kids nowadays (with the approval of most parents) would rather sit at home and play video games rather that work hard and try to earn playing time. We have ruined this generation because kids wanted things handed to them without having to work for it. I feel this is why our numbers are somewhat low. Another is that underclassman with talent come in and take a junior or senior's spot and what is the first reaction for them. I will just quit. Instead of I am going to earn my spot back and work harder. I seen it too many times including this year. I will never support my kids in quitting just because someone is working harder than them.

I'm guilty!!!

I as a parent allowed one of my children to quit the program a few years ago.
It was a big mistake, one that I learned from as well as my child learning from it. He regreted his choice to quit and so did I.
As parents we have to stick to our guns..if you join you finish. Simple as that. JC's football program is a strong program and I for one am very proud of our boys out there bustin there tails everyday to make it such a great football team...JC has a lot of good, strong, fast and big guys that I would love to see on the football team.
I'ts Monday and I hope our team starts preparing today for next season,it will be here before you know it.
There has been alot of talk about sportsmanship on this thread but I have yet to see any comments by the Highlands faithful about the very unsportsman like conduct of their coach and the administration towards the JC radio crew. Your administration told the radio guys that they were made to be moved because the coach thought they might steal signals and be giving information to the JC coaching staff. That is one the most ridiculous things that I have ever heard. But remember this, Highlands isn't afraid of JC. I just hope that JC extends the same kind of warm and love next year if these two are hook up at JC. The only thing that could be better is if it were raining and the radio crew from Highlands had to make sure they didn't get their equipment wet.
Who told the JC radio crew to set up behind the HHS sidelines?

So sorry the radio crew felt so put out. They actually were moved to a much better spot. If it had been very cold there are heaters and where they were sitting they could go into the cafeteria and get free food and drinks, and not just your typical concession food. They were in the area where people pay $500 to sit. This money goes to the Education Foundation.

Highlands doesn't have a radio crew. We lack many luxuries thanks to the SEEK formula. Oh and you can thank the SEEK formula for your radio guys, your nice facilities , and your luxury seating in your stadium.

I get really tired listening to people "down state" talk about the rich, snobby city folks up north and how they don't understand how bad we have it down state. Well, I have seen the beautiful schools and facilities down state and the mountains. You have now seen what Highlands has. Our facilites are in a very bad way. The restrooms are horrible and the locker rooms are nasty. We have a long way to go. So enjoy my tax money, but don't criticize our facilities.

Oh, and our turf field was completely paid for by private donations. How about yours?
Just as expected. You ignored the whole point. I never downgraded your facilities. Never once. But you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about your facilities. They were moved because the coach asked that they be moved.

Actually you missed the point. We don't have any place to put radio guys. We don't have that luxury. I can't believe they were behind our bench in the first place. Can't blame the coach for not wanting anyone other than team and team personnel on his sideline.

I can't believe that after the game your team played and all you do is complain about where your radio guys sit. How bout that great game your team had?

Please don't compare the unsportsmanship play exhibited by a JC player that could have seriously injured a player to some radio guys getting their feelings hurt. There is no comparison there. As for next year do you what you want with the Highlands radio crew.

Actually the JC faithful should feel lucky and privileged that Highlands even let you bring your radio crew.

They don't allow ANY nky media to broadcast their games on the radio, tv, or internet. (CBS obviously being the only exception since it was shown nationally)

Your team played an outstanding game. Quit complaining about something such as where the radio crew had to sit.

I am not going to take up for him because that was not right but after watching that he gets a cheap shot in the back and gets up and goes after the wrong guy! That is what I got out of it. Not for sure if I am right but just trying to figure it out!Still wrong!!

Must be nice to even have a pool building and a baseball field with a pressbox.

Your coaches and your film crew were in our pressbox (trailer on stilts that a good wind could blow over) right along with our coaches and film guy.

Radio guys had one of the best seats in the facility. Sorry they are so ungrateful.:please:

I don't think they were ungrateful, but to move them 5 minutes before game time and those listening at home missed the first couple series. A lot of people in this area depending on them. Just seems the timing was bad since they had been broadcasting in the first spot since 6 pm. :please:

It was probably better they didn't hear the first couple of series.

Honestly they are lucky they have a radio station to broadcast. Folks that can't make it to a Highlands game just have to wait for the eleven o'clock news. Move on.

You would think with such a great team like the Birds they would want the entire world hear and watch them play........

I'm no Highland apologist by any means but WHERE do you see this kid get a "cheap shot in the back" and go after someone? That film clip only shows him going down on the ground and in fact looks every bit to me as if he was blocked CLEANLY downfield. If he is hit in the back it is NOWHERE in that clip.

It looks to me like the kid was mad he got put on the ground and decided as he was trailing the play by a long distance to go and hit someone who wasn't looking. End of story.

When Collinsworth cuts back you see him going to the ground with a push in the back! CLIP!!!! ILLEGAL BLOCK!! WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT!!! Oh, I forgot Highlands does nothing wrong!:HitWall: I watched it a bunch before I even commented! End of story!

Was at the game, watched the play, and have watched plenty on film from three different angles, he was blocked (clean) by #55. He was just mad and embarassed that it didn't take much for the big guy to put him on the ground.

Fortunately Highlands #77 was not hurt. I would imagine the tape will be sent to the KHSAA. Just my guess.
ram-97 Wrote:Highlands are such saints aren't they.

Speaking of teams, I think the KHSAA should not only investigate the kids in question, but also the coaching staff and their tactics. I would talk to other teams and question JC's tactics. I'm sure this wasn't the first game some funny business was going on on the field. When #3 came to the sidelines after he punched a kid from Highlands, the coach pulled him the next play and patted him on the back. What's with that? I say take a look at the whole program down there.
