Enough talk about schedules, lets get back to the actual game. As far as were concerned each week is a new season, what happened last week or last month has no bearing on the next Friday's game.
I know Fugate is the main man along with Haddux(sp?). What type of O do they run? What type of D? Not heard a lot about the Bobcat D, just curious what they run?
Somerset runs multiple pro-set O but changes D allignment weekly depending on opponent.

As I said the winner Friday only has to be the better team on that night, anything can happen with teams that are as equally matched as these teams are. It could be a close game, or it may be a blowout, who knows until Friday night.

Somerset 63
Estill County 14
Breathitt 35
Estill County 6
Comparing scores really isn't an accurate way to figure out who's going to win. Sometimes the score doesn't tell the whole story due to field conditions, injuries etc.
It will be a good game I am not saying that Breathitt will walk all over them but if they come to play and keep their heads out of the clouds I think they will win by how much I don't know?

That was my point. Comparing scores against common opponents is a bad way to predict how the game will go. Another poster pointed out that Breathitt had beaten Wayne and Garrard much worse then Somerset and I pointed out that Somerset beat Estill County much worse than Breathitt. There are just so many variables from game to game. Just look at the 2 Somerset/Estill scores. The first game was at Estill in bad weather and Somerset had a starting receiver and their 1st and 2nd string centers out--the Jumpers only beat Estill by 13. Later, at Somerset on a fast track with all of their starters they beat the Engineers by 49.
Regardless of scores against common opponents I think this will be a very good game. Should be a lot of fun.

Breathitt wins this game by at least 15-20 points....the Bobcats are on fire right now with the senior receivers back and a healthy, hungry Channing Fugate running the ball. The Bobcats D has truly gelled and is going to get even more stingy as well as continue to score points. Breathitt is just simply more talented and better coached. Breathitt has been in this situation time and again.
Somerset players will be having nightmares about this game for weeks after the fact.

Lol im not a briar jumpers fan nor will i ever be, It's just my opinion that they'll win Friday, not saying I know they will, good chance ill be proven wrong but i dont think so  & I wouldn't get all hyped up thinking your gonna stroll into Somerset and get a W because if you do infact lose it'll make the ride home all that much worse thinking about how much you hated on Somerset the past few weeks and you'll proably explode from all the crow you'll have to eat

i think this will be a good game but i think breathitt will come out on top, however the week after that will be an eye opener and show the bobcats that winning their region shouldnt even count for anything..this game i pull for breathitt but next i pull for pike central or Sheldon Clark

First of all, for the past two years I watched my wife go through the process of dying from colon cancer at age 40 so whether someone wins a ball game or not actually has little to do with my level of happiness or overall mental state.
Secondly, I do not hate Somerset. I am very happy for them that they have had the undefeated season this year and did well, but on the other hand it appears to me that they are in way above their heads in this game against the Bobcats. You will see what I mean come Fri night. Sure, there is a chance of a fluke and Somerset winning, but very unlikely. Breathitt has more talent, is playing their best football right now, has better coaching, and much more experience in the playoffs.
Finally, there are some very good high lights from this year and as you will see Fri night many more to come. There will be a high light tape at the end of the season and I will be sure you get to watch it. Breathitt is actually a better football team right now than they were at this point last year and Channing is running the ball better than ever....Haddix has been consistently running the ball well too and is throwing the ball better than ever....problem is that there are few that understand that because most people just look at the surface of things.
If Somerset does win I will be the first to congratulate them and honestly I hope they go on winning and eventually beat Central for the championship. If they beat the mighty Bobcats they deserve nothing less.

I call it playing smart and it comes from all that experience that Holcomb has...that is playoff and championship experience. He could have easily ran Fugate into the ground this year, but wisely didn't. For example, Fugate only had 5 yards against Sheldon Clark, but he only ran the ball a few times. Anyone that knows...knows that Fugate can rush for at least 100-200 yards on anybody...just ask Central...Breathitt lost that game, but Fugate had 175 yards and 2 tds on the lightening fast Central D that hits so hard .
If Breathitt plays Sheldon Clark again they will beat them 3-4 tds and Fugate will rush for at least 150-200 yards. It's not just Fugate though. There were some key injuries during the regular season. It all worked out for the good for the Bobcats though because some younger guys really stepped up and got some experience at winning thanks to that tough Hazard win. Breathitt could not be in any better position at this time. The HB Prichard is the only starter missing. Trent has filled that spot well.
I think Breathitt's best offensive set is either putting Trent at quarterback and Fugate and Haddix at halfbacks or running the Wildcat offensive set.

Based on what, have you watched Somerset? Game Film of them? Maybe Breathitt is more talented, I'm just wondering what you are basing your opinion on? Or do you just look through Bobcat tinted glasses and they are all you can see?

I agree, Fugate is better than anyone on Somerset's roster but after that I think it is a Somerset advantage. Somerset is riddled with talent and speed and can beat you in any number of ways on offense.

Jade is throwing the ball well and Channing is running as hard as I have seen him since last year. The Defense is playing great and Breathitt is now playing as a team. As long as Breathitt stays healthy and continues to play as a team the sky is the limit for the bobcats. Breathitt wins this game 35-21.
I agree, Bobcats by 2TD maybe 3 if they play like they did against Gaddard.

No matter what I say you will just simply not understand until you see it for yourself. Breathitt is just on another level. Holcomb is one of the best coaches in America. By the way Breathitt has more players other than Channing. Haddix is also one of the top 50 players in the state. If you think all you have to do is stop Fugate you are mistaken. Besides, at this point in the season no one can stop Fugate anyway so the point is mute.
We will further discuss this after Friday night. We will see what you have to say then.

To tell you the truth i really don't know who is going to win this one. Niether team really has a strong scheule, they're both mediocre schedules IMO. Somerset does have that win over Pulaski Co which is their strongest win of the season. But, other than that none of their other wins are all that impressive. I'm a fan of the Briar Jumpers because both my dad and my cousin played football there and my other cousin played on and coached the Boys High School Soccer team at Somerset for 9 years and also currently teaches there as well. So i have alot of family ties to the Briar Jumpers. But, Breathitt is kinda like a home team to me since i live right next door and went to college right above the hill from Breathitt Co High School. I know the Bobcats have been mediocre to say the least this year but they're on a roll now and they seem to be coming together at just the right time. They really don't have any impressive wins as far as beating good teams but i was impressed with there huge blowout win last week against Garrard Co, everybody was clicking together and running on all cylinders in that game. So for me this game is up in the air right now. I am gonna say that i think right now that Somerset has a slight upperhand where this will be a home game for them but it still will be a really good and really close game that i want to go to and if things go my way i might get the chance to go!! I just wanna say good luck Bobcats and good luck Briar Jumpers!! We will see what happens on friday, i can't wait!!

You are very welcome. I think he could make an immediate contribution to the team. He is very smart too.

Did anyone mention that Channing actually may be a better defensive player. He could easily play D1 outside linebacker or strong safety. Here's a vid:

Jade Haddix is also one of the pre-season's top 50 players in the state. Haddix not only plays the quarterback position very effectively with talented running and crisp passing, but he's a monster of defense as well. Here's a vid that showcases both his offensive and defensive talents:

This is Jade and Channing's senior year so if you think these guys are not out for serious business come Friday night in Somerset you are badly mistaken. The rest of the team from returning injured starters to talented freshman with some good experience under their belts are 100% as well. It is going to be good. Briar Jumpers better be ready or it could get ugly really fast.

Breathitt beat a Pikeville team led by Chapman 33-0 I think in Pikeville several years back. I think Somerset has a really good team, but I think that Breathitt was coasting in the regular season and will win 28-21, but it could easily go the other way.
